He's a very weak villain. We know he's a Hawaiian nationalist and apparently he's good with explosives. But other than that he's a very nondescript character. Very bland.

Anyway, if you liked the Lewis Avery Filer episodes... I think you'll like the next one! :D
Wow. Charlie.

Didn't even recognize him.

And the kid. I could have sworn he was a Magnum PI guest star.

Bashed my brain 'cause I knew I knew him.

Patrick Adiarte

He was in a bunch of early M*A*S*H episodes not MPI.

Yep, that was Charlie. :D Also that skinny tall guy with the shaggy hair to the right of Manu Tupou always cracks me up. Funny looking dude. Reminds me of Shaggy from SCOOBY DOO! As for the kid (Patrick Adiarte) he was in THE BRADY BUNCH too, where the Bradys go to Hawaii! I believe he was their tour guide in that one, who told the boys about that taboo tiki that they picked up that was causing them all sorts of bad luck.

You like that shirt, T.Q.? Or is that just more of your school boy tricks?

I prefer the Mag's shirts.

I like the Magnum ones. Like the modern ones. Like the vintage ones. Even the super cheesy ‘ugly’ ones are fun.

Yep, can't go wrong with a Hawaiian shirt. :magnum:

I own the classic red jungle bird one but it's getting too small for me now. I want to order a larger black and purple orchid one.

I'm a Family Crook - Don't Shoot!

What a super fun episode.

Very entertaining.

Was nice seeing Andy Griffith.

Got a kick out of recycling Kwan Hi Lim (Tanaka) so quickly only two episodes after V.

Anyways. Loved it.... and another really fun ending.... Those Schmuck Lovejoys! :P

Thought you'd really enjoy this one! :D

I don't quite consider it a classic in the same vein as "Over Fifty? Steal" with Hume Cronyn as Lewis Avery Filer (that one was a masterpiece!!) but it is a super fun episode, as you mentioned. And it's directed by Bob Sweeney, who also directed THAT Filer episode! Sweeney certainly knew how to direct a comedic episode. In addition to being a producer on FIVE-O (seasons 4-7), Sweeney was best know for being the regular director on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW (one of my other all-time favorite shows). He directed pretty much every episode of the first 3 seasons of TAGS! Is it small wonder that they got him to direct this episode, where Andy Griffith was a guest?? Loved Andy in this one!

The next 4 are very good so enjoy!!

I really enjoyed this episode too. Joyce Van Patten was also in a very good, but tragic, two-part Rockford Files episode as a police buff.

The Child Stealers

Pretty good episode.

Emotional subject matter. Ever since I've had my own kids, the kidnapping babies/children stories kinda hit a nerve.

Scene with Ben and the couple who's adopted baby was a kidnap victim was heartbreaking. Imagining how hard that would be.

The arrest at the airport pretty standard. I like when the HNL is in episode (as I've said before). Remind me of being a kid going to Hawai'i.

He sure flung that baby around trying to get away. :P

Wow. Lotsa guest stars.

Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), Meg Foster (knew instantly with her eyes), Richard Anderson (Da da da da... da da da da da da da da).

MPI: Moe Keale, Jack Hogan.

Yes, very good episode! Like you said, if you have kids (especially little ones, as I do) this one hits very close to home. Yes the scene with Ben, especially when he gives the couple that look and they instantly know what it means - heartbreaking! Also the scene where Meg Foster comes to the door of that mother asking for a signature while Richard Hatch out back is making his way towards the baby is suspenseful, but really heartbreaking is the scene where the mother looks at the swing on the porch and her baby is GONE! Just an empty swing swinging. Try to put yourself in that situation.

Meg Foster does have the most striking eyes I've ever seen. The color is very unique. It's almost like she's wearing one of those colored contact lenses. But it's not just the color, it's something about the eyes themselves. She will make another appearance on the show and Richard Hatch will make 2 more. Jack Hogan makes a couple more. Richard Anderson and "da da da da" I'm guessing that's the bionic sound from SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN?? Or from "China Doll"?

The next one is another goodie...

Thanks for the Honeymoon

Good episode. Enjoyed it.

Fine job all around.

My wife had to remind me who Patty Duke was. And I didn't know she was Sean Astin's mom. Looked a bit like him (or should that be vice-versa  ).

Loved the goofy old "hit-man" and his attempt to case the joint. You'd never suspect.

Good albeit bit predictable final scene.

BOOK 'EM

EDIT: Double-Episode day!

The Listener file was corrupted. Could not watch.

Here Today... Gone Tonight was also very good.

Had me going throughout. How’d he do that? Twins? What’s going on.

I had the idea someone different was in the helicopter but no… flying circles. Very good and enjoyed the reveal.

Thanks for the Honeymoon - yep, great episode! Patty Duke was very good in her part, Carol Lawrence plays McG's one-time flame, Lane Bradford as the gangster King Manola. I agree that the goofy old guy working for Manola was a nice touch, casing the joint (wasn't it the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore?) and complaining about the hippies in Waikiki. I'm not sure I'd call him a hitman though. Just a stooge working for Manola. The episode is very similar to season 1's "Deathwatch" (one of my favorites from that season) where McG has to protect a racketeer in a hotel so he can testify against his boss in court. In the end in both episodes the boss thinks the witness against him is dead but then McG pulls a surprise by revealing he/she is alive and ready to testify.

The Listener - oh man, that sucks! Of all the ones to be corrupted. You're missing out on a classic with this one! See if you can track this one down somehow. If you don't mind spending $2.99 you can buy this one episode and view it on Amazon.

Here Today... Gone Tonight - love it! Yes, it's far-fetched and most likely improbable but I love the labyrinthine plot and the elaborate setup the killer puts together to commit the perfect crime. It's almost like something out of COLUMBO! I know Mike Quigley hates this episode because it's too far-fetched for him. I think he calls it "sci-fi" or something. But I love all that stuff. You almost expect Wo Fat to pull off something like this. Don't they even mention Wo Fat in this one? This is appearance #3 for Monte Markham.

The Listener.

Watched today.

Very good. Very creepy.

The stalker had all his bases covered.

Driving the girl to jump from the building was a WOW moment.

I like McGarrett and Danno’s deceptive ways to get around the Listener.

Good episode.

Glad you got a chance to see this one! Yes it's pretty creepy. Classic episode! Greg Mullavey as the psycho was truly deranged. Curious - how did you see this one?
