I think we need a little bit of humour right about now.
What got me were the drapes.

Inclusions: Cable Tv, Drapes, Fireplace, Lawn Sprinkler, Security System

Really???

I didn't realize there actually was a greenhouse on property.

Hey...Jay Leno is gonna have allot of free time pretty soon.....he could afford to buy it...AND pay the taxes/upkeep/maintenance! :D

He likes to vacation in HI, and Ferrari's.......if Larry, Roger and Tom aren't interested...maybe Jay would be? Don't think he'd chop it up into smaller units either. We need somebody to turn it into MagnumLand.

Ok, done dreaming/rambling now.

Oh well....I'm just one of the "watchers" for this one.

Went through my comics AND baseball cards.....not a one of em' worth anywhere near 10 million! :magnum:

Just for fun.....you've just purchased the place...... What is the first thing you would repair or change?
Also.....What is your favourite part of Robin's Nest/Pahonu? It could be the tennis court, the view, guest house, the location etc..
Have fun!

extra large garage with workshop and separate bath house.

I'm guessing it's the garage to the right of the house and the bath house is used after a swim.A place to change before entering the house.

Condition: Average, Needs Major Repair

I think I figured it out. The garage and workshop are obvious, but the bath house confused me. Then I remembered reading someone's account of an event held there. They referenced using restrooms and showers in the rear yard behind the main house. That has to be what they are referring to as the bath house.

I noticed that a while back on the property tax slides. I asked if anyone on the forum knew and drew a blank. It seems to have been built at the same time as the other structures. Maybe it was where the tennis courts are now because they are much newer. One of the Hawaii Five-O shots is pre-tennis courts.

It probably wasn't a glass green house given the climate. It says lath, as in wood strips, which makes much more sense. A lath house screens seedlings from intense sun. A glass green house keeps them warm in a cold climate. A lath house is also much less of an investment so might easily have been torn down or simply rotted away.

Wow! Tough question. I think first would have to be practical and get the main house up to snuff. Obviously, if there were anyway to recreate the study I'd do so.

The boathouse in intriguing. I can see the use for a storage area AND the need for guest quarters. I figure I could always repurpose part of the garage for grounds equipment. Assuming the gatehouse could be used for guests. As well as the main house, I would be quite tempted to turn the boathouse into an entertainment area. I did build a tiki bar in Queens, NY after all! I think that area, apart from the main house could work well, although there is the neighbor consideration aspect since it's close to the property line.

I'd expect the tennis courts would come out, I don't play and have no desire to learn, but am not sure what would replace them. Perhaps an archery range of some sort. Maybe an in ground pool. The tidal pool is nice, but the privacy of your own pool and hot tub would be needed.

Assuming zoning laws would permit, I would turn the boathouse into the actual guesthouse. It would have to be torn down and rebuilt... But how awesome would that be?

(Heck, If I had $15MM to purchase it, I should have some left over to do that.)

Hi Doc,

I would do the same thing and in this perfect Magnum bubble (no zoning issues, plenty of cash etc) I would take it one step further by building and an identical guesthouse in the other oceanfront corner so it would stay a little more true to where we think T.M.'s guesthouse is located......via the portico. I like Conch's pool idea, but I would keep the tennis court just to keep it true to what we know. The main house is a total mystery on the inside, but a matching den would be nice if it fit the floor plan. One thing that I've never been a fan of was the dusty driveway that ruined a clean Ferrari in seconds. I would love to pave it, but being a bit of purist, I would end up leaving it. Okay back to reality.... :(

:D Same here. Even if I would bagged them all there's no way. I'm still upset with my grandmother throwing out all my dad's old comics. Although even if Amazing Fantasy #15 were in there, it wouldn't get us close . . .

Lath, I was wondering what exactly that meant. For some reason it didn't connect in my head. Makes sense to have just rotted away over time.

In my mind there is only one thing to do (if I owned the property). I'd gut the main house and boathouse and then redesign the interior of both of them to match (as closely as possible) the soundstage sets! Everything seen in the show would be included, right down to the books in Higgins' office. The boathouse would become the guesthouse (aka "Magnum's Pad"). The gatehouse would become a souvenir shop. Tours would be available M-F, 10-4. Two doberman's would patrol the grounds in the off hours. I'd buy the adjacent property to the south and live there, although sometimes I would crash in the guesthouse. To quote Higgins, "there will be no wild parties, no outrageous liberties, no unauthorized overnight guests!" :)

J.J. pegged it for me.

Everything exactly as it was "preserved" for posterity, so to speak.

Only changes would be all the conveniences would be the latest state of the art electronics everywhere, but made to look like they were in the series.

Might include an additional building (perhaps on the property next door) to house the fleet of 308's, all but one (MINE! ) of which could be used/rented by the paying guests of the estate who come to enjoy a Magnum PI week/weekend. :D

Reality's overrated.....dream on! :magnum:

The boathouse would have to be turned into the ultimate man cave for me and I always dreamed I would hang a hammock it's porch area facing the tidal pool. In the hammock would be a lifesize mannequin sporting a red parrot shirt, beige shorts, boat shoes and a Detoit Tigers baseball cap strategically placed over it's face as if Magnum was asleep, perhaps even a copy of War and Peace resting on its chest. Hopefully this could all be seen from the beach for tourists.........Oh, and I would also be sure to have a 308 parked in it's normal spot.............Oh to dream!
