Has there been any recent news or sightings of John Hillerman? He really did an outstanding job when playing Higgins, since the accent he had to learn, was so 'spot on'. In all the many episodes I have watched, there has never been a time where his accent has been a little 'iffy'.

I never thought to check it out before, but looking at his history on IMDB, I think the Higgins character set him up for good. He didn't do much acting after that and nothing since '96.

At least I hope that's the issue . . . I hope he wasn't typecast and couldn't get good work afterwards.

He's in comfortable retirement here in Houston. I think MPI set him up for the rest of his life as it should have. But I agree, his performances were always "spot on".

I know he is retired, and I also heard his health doesn't permit him to work. I don't think it is very serious, but probably a sign of his age.
