Happy Birthday Vera Miles

#1 Post by Luther's nephew Dobie »

Happy 95th birthday to Magnum alum - one of my favorite episodes - Vera Miles. I fell in love with her in "The Searchers" many years ago.
My buddy told me she was watching her on Magnum and her necklace spelling out "Bitch" was blurred out.
Confession time, I am having a mental block and can't recall the title of her episode with Darren McGavin, doh!

Happy 93rd birthday to Barbara Eden as well, I will never forget her appearance on the Andy Griffith Show,
and the gang at Floyd's reaction.

"Mad Buck Gibson"

And yes Barb Eden was lovely on TAGS. The guys' reaction to her at Floyd's was a hoot!

Thanks for the "Mad Buck Gibson" heads up.
In my opinion Barbara's one off turns on TAGS and "I Love Lucy", though she was wearing dresses in both, were far more alluring than when she wore her genie outfit.
I mean I am certainly a fan of her genie look, but one's imagination took hold when she entered Floyd's, as Ivan and the Mayberry gang would concur.

Oh absolutely! It's not even close! I like I DREAM OF JEANNIE but I have to admit that her costume doesn't do her any justice whatsoever. But put her in a dress and YOWZA!

My... mother... told... me... to... pick... you! Haha, I still remember her saying that in the I LOVE LUCY episode. :)

I forgot about that line, very funny. "Yowza" is right!

After filming a drunk Desi chased Barbara all over the studio. She wound up in Lucy's office, who comforted her and assured her she was safe.
Desi behind the scenes was a genius who innovated many firsts in TV, but give him a few drinks and he lost it.
On The Virginian he was drunk out of his mind, shame on the producers for not replacing him, he earned that amount of pity at least for his pioneering
work like the three camera set up etc. It still amazes me this episode is still rerun, it's just awful to see him.
