Little Girl Who (7.7)

Ridiculous arguments going on here. All I can say is, Michelle was so hot in this episode. And I never really liked the Magnum having a daughter plot.

Re: Little Girl Who (7.7)
Michelle's ring disappears.

At 2:25 she is wearing a wedding ring when she is going to see her husband.

At 3:52 when she is taking out her hidden visa it is missing.

It comes back until she falls out of a limo at 41:05.

Note that there is also no watch.

It stays on after 41:11.
Body doubles. Not some crazy statement she is making about her messed up husband situation.

Yep, that’s another example of them using different people’s hands for close-ups.

And of course by that I did not mean to imply that one or both of her husbands was messed up, rather her situation of having two husbands was messed up. Well, maybe the Communist husband is messed up in the head, but that is not what I intended.80s Big Hair wrote: Not some crazy statement she is making about her messed up husband situation.
Here are some relevant threads to this episode:

The "Little girl who" (was supposed to speak french) This is an in depth analysis by my new French friend about the quality of the the French spoken in this episode. Gorilla Mask even goes into the Vietnamese spoken.
Heh. The little girl is now some sort of a financial advisor in Wisconsin.

Yes, Kristen Carreira is now a financial planner here in my home town of Madison. I do have a 401k from an old job I could roll over, and I’m sorely tempted to make an appointment. The main question is, do I show up in the Tigers cap and Hawaiian shirt, or go in incognito and try bringing it up later?
Seriously though, I’ve tried emailing her a couple times asking about the show and she hasn’t responded, so I assume she wouldn’t see the humor in either approach. And the expense ratio on that 401k is very low, I don’t think a full-service financial planner could match it, so I guess I’m too cheap to pay for a brush with fame. But I sure would like to ask her to share any memories she has of her time on the show.

Re: Little Girl Who (7.7)
One of my favorite episodes of Magnum, P.I. However, I never did understand why Magnum and Michelle didn't stay together now that they found out her old husband was dead and Magnum certainly suspected that Lily was his daughter. If you had a daughter that you didn't know existed, wouldn't you want to know for sure and wouldn't you want to be with your former wife and daughter??!?!!?!?!? Come on, Magnum!
Re: Little Girl Who (7.7)
I didn't find her cold at all. She was suppressing her own feelings and desires for the sake of her daughter. To behave romantically with Thomas would just make it harder for both of them to make the responsible decision.
Re: Little Girl Who (7.7)
Hello, I already sent a p.m. to Gorilla Mask about a line just before Lily shows her drawing, I think the meaning is something like ''Do you want to see my drawing?'', anyone knows the exact French words spoken by Lily? Thank you
Re: Little Girl Who (7.7)
Buck Green discusses this with Magnum, and later Thomas and Michelle discuss it as well. If Michelle stays in Hawaii with Thomas, she's a sitting duck as long as she's with him, and if he goes with her, he makes her easier to find somewhere else. But really, it's because it's a better dramatic story line if they don't go off together. Resisting the happy ending. Not to mention, at this point they probably had Season 7 plotted out and knew TM was walking off into the clouds at the end of the last episode.Tuan Vu from Hawaii wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 4:44 pm One of my favorite episodes of Magnum, P.I. Re: Little Girl Who (7.7)
I agree with all of this, except the last part that the producers had season 7 plotted out already. This episode isn’t even half way into the season, and series at the time didn’t go into production with the entire story arc laid out as happens in shorter series today. They were often only working three or four scripts ahead of what was currently being filmed. They had 22 episodes to make and brought in plenty of scripts from outside writers, again unlike shorter series today. Limbo also has a lot of writers listed, including Selleck, so it was likely a long process that happened over the many weeks before filming would have started. That would have been several months after this episode however.ENSHealy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 8:43 pmBuck Green discusses this with Magnum, and later Thomas and Michelle discuss it as well.
