Magnum's Collarless Dress Shirt!

#1 Post by MadBuck0186 »

Ok, big Magnum P.I. fan here since I was a kid. I found this site and think it's GREAT! I have been to the Magnum gear link....but, I did not see anything about his collarless (banded collar) (Postboy) dress shirts there. I can not find them anywhere on the web. Now, I have found some shirts that look similar, but none with white collars.

Does anyone know what brand they are? Ralph Lauren, Claborine, etc?

Thanks!

Back in the eighties and nineties when I used to like to wear those type of shirts, I would just buy different colored shirts with white collars and cut the collar flap off. I found that the "banded" part was a bit higher than the actual banded collar shirts themselves, which I preferred............

I used to be able to find them pretty much everywhere, but I guess style trends change. In the last few years I've made my own. Buying high end dress shirts, removing the collar flap, and then re stitching the "band". It works great, bit I have not found any colored shirts with the white collar.

I haven't seen them around for awhile. They were big in the 80s and then made a comeback in the late 90s/00s. My friend bought a new one from Club Monaco or some place like that. I'm surprised they aren't around now 'cause the last few years some jackets have been collarless.
