Annie Potts playing Tracy Spencer

[80s Big Hair]

While only being in two episodes, 3.19 Legacy From a Friend and 7.5 A.A.P.I., Tracy Spencer was one of my favorite recurring characters. Perhaps this is because I found her sexy, but I think it is more than that. She was funny. Humor was a big part of Magnum, P.I. and Annie Potts contributed to that aspect of the show.

She was introduced to she show in season 3 playing a Honolulu Police Department meter maid. She led Magnum to believe that she had more stature in the PD than a meter maid. In her appearance in season 7 I believe she had been promoted to detective but then manged to get fired and became a P.I.

The banter between Magnum and Spencer I found funny. Am I the only one? I can see why people might find the character annoying (especially her voice).

You aren’t the only one. She was one of my favorites too! She was so funny and the nuances of her facial expressions as she interacted with Magnum cracked me up. I’d have liked to see her return again.
