Pilot to Ep2 Ratings and Beyond

Ep 14
Key Demo: 0.7
-5.41%
Guess there's no point continuing following the ratings as CBS obviously doesn't care what they are since they've renewed anyway.
Was interesting for a while watching the poor viewership with that in view.
CBS plowing ahead though. Who really knows why?

Knocking my rubber chicken or my sloppy habits is within the rules, but you're attacking my character. I would like to think you don't mean that.

Haven’t looked for a while.
Last few episodes have stayed 0.7 key demo.
Less than 6M viewers.
Last week was lowest total viewers of season.
Doesn’t look like they got much of a Roger Mosley bump either.
Nice try though Lenkov.

Out of curiosity, anything notable in the ratings for the final two weeks of the reboot's first season?
Re: Pilot to Ep2 Ratings and Beyond
Yes, notable that the season finale was one of the least watched episodes of season one.Amian wrote:Out of curiosity, anything notable in the ratings for the final two weeks of the reboot's first season?
Same 0.7 key demo.
Only 5.5M total viewers.
Seems no one seemed to really care about the forced Jordana Brewster storyline.

I think it is worth noting that it is up against The voice ( and maybe American idol) that is on for two hours so with Magnum starting at 9 people are not as likely to switch over in the middle of a show . The lead in Shows for Magnum on CBS are both sit coms that I find to be awful . I would not be surprised to see Magnum moved to a new night next season but I think both the sit coms were also renewed so CBS might just leave it a lone .

Crazy. I don't understand these ratings and how the show is still not only airing, but renewed. Something must be going on behind the scenes.T.Q. wrote:Yes, notable that the season finale was one of the least watched episodes of season one.Amian wrote:Out of curiosity, anything notable in the ratings for the final two weeks of the reboot's first season?

Re: Pilot to Ep2 Ratings and Beyond
Part of what is going on behind the scences seems to be that Magnum is doing better in that time slot then what aired last year on CBS . The Voice has won the time slot for a while now . I would think that for the same reason that Magnum was set in Hawaii originally would also play a part . Hawaii 5O has been on for 9 or 10 years at this point how much longer will it continue and what do you make at that studio when it ends . From a network stand point Magnum seems like a good solution much like it did the first time . If Hawaii 50 was to end I could see Magnum moving into its time slot and getting the same ratings or better .
Re: Pilot to Ep2 Ratings and Beyond
It might not only take over the Hawaii 5-0 time slot, but if H50 is ending, then the studio might not want to waste their investment in the filming infrastructure they've got there.Laohu wrote:Part of what is going on behind the scences seems to be that Magnum is doing better in that time slot then what aired last year on CBS . How are the H 5O ratings compared to the MPI reboot?

Re: Pilot to Ep2 Ratings and Beyond
What is most important is if the reboot is winning the "key demographic that buys things" as opposed to winning the overall ratings race. We need to find outConchRepublican wrote:Crazy. how it does with young to middle age men who will spend bucks on the advertiser's goodies.
Plus, CBS has traditionally been the network for older and rural people, they need a series like Magnum to help balance that out(if indeed Magnum is drawing that
most desired demographic of young men) so that their viewer's age doesn't average out to somewhere in the mid 40's.
That's FOX News biggest problem and source of it's probable long term doom, the average viewer is in her/his mid 60's. As an economic model it's beyond shortsighted,
they need to clear out some of the cobwebs and appeal to younger people lest young people roll their eyes and blow it and it's message off as the Geezer Channel.
I am making no political comment, rather pointing out market forces which might explain why Magnum, for example, was renewed.
Taking a cue from CBS, Jay/Perdita could host a weekly FOX show, Perdita sporting one of those mandatory FOX mini mini-skirts behind a glass table as they interview
Boris Johnson or the last three remaining Hawaii 5-0 fans on earth.
Business is business and if Magnum jr. makes CBS more 'youthful'(read $$$) and a Jay/Perdita show the same for FOX, then Money Talks, no matter the quality of
the series themselves.

Just imagine the faces of the MPI traditionalists, when the reboot goes into Season 9Laohu wrote:Hawaii 5O has been on for 9 or 10 years at this point how much longer will it continue and what do you make at that studio when it ends ..
