Magnum Reboot on CBS
I really wanted to see a Magnum reboot with a storyline and characters having continuity from the original show. Maybe Magnum's daughter, Lily, taking over as the P.I. (as was announced a few years ago), or perhaps Thomas's son from another relationship after the end of the original series. This would have enabled guest star roles for Tom Selleck, Roger E. Mosley, and Larry Manetti, and could have kicked off a great new series. This imaginary incarnation of the show would inherit an instant audience from a key demographic. I've never heard of any of the main cast members before, and for me Jay Hernandez is just completely unwatchable as Magnum. He's all wrong for the role in so many ways. For one thing, he's Hispanic, whereas the original Magnum was not. Hernandez is also too short at 5'7" and too old at 40. It would have made so much better sense for the new Magnum to have been a US Naval Academy graduate who had just gotten out of the Navy after ten years of service around the age of 32. Couldn't they have found a better leading man, younger, with greater acting experience, taller, and who looked good with a mustache??? Thoughts from my fellow Hawaiian shirt wearers?

To me this is like remaking Bullitt with a hybrid. All sizzle no steak.
