And you conclude it on what? Because she is a woman? In Elementary, Watson she is also a woman, but there is nothing romantic between her and Sherlock. In Hawaii Five-0, Kono she is also woman, and there was never anything romance between her and the members of Five-0. So I suppose that it will be the same with Higgins.

I like the casting, because from what I saw is a great actress, and the description resembles Higgins from the original. Of course he is no longer a man, and she is much younger, but it will not stop me as long as it will be a great character creation, and will remain quarrels between and Magnum, and I know it will remain because I saw the video from the Higgins casting.

The description you refer to is what sent me over the edge on this. I had been calmly and objectively wishing the project well from arm's length before yesterday's announcement, though I had never intended to watch it. Now I can't stand it and hope for its abject failure, lol. That accurate description was just too much.

I'm led to think that way based on the fact a young, attractive woman was cast to play Higgins which undermines at least two of the major points - father figure and worldly experience. Removing those two major points of the Higgins character limits the available relationship options. If they would have cast a Cate Blanchett type as a worldly Cold Warrior perhaps they could have pulled off something more similar to the essence of the series. This casting to me screams Batman and Robin with sexual tension in the playbook as needed.

You don´t need to be one of Einsteins stupid cousins to understand how most episodes will play out between the new Magnum and Higgins do you? She is beautiful, and Magnum will try to make a pass, but she is the strong woman with integrity. So modern and what of a total snooze fest. In the original the question always was if Higgins was Mr Masters. The question in the new show will be if Magnum and she eventually will hook up. Brrrr!

Give this a chance... What about casting Tom Selleck as Higgins? Even thought Im not crazy about Jay Hernandez being cast as Magnum, its a done deal. With TS as Higgins, that would have given way to the older, worldly father-figure to the younger, former SEAL/PI... oops, private investigator.

Never heard of her, but when I saw the pic that accompanies the article, I immediately knew she was Honeysuckle Week's sister. Honeysuckle played Sam Stewart on Foyle's War and she was fantastic which got me to thinking that Michael Kitchen would have made a great Higgins! He's the right age and he's got that detached, cool, stiff upper lip thing down pat. Plus he's short! Oh well, this is gonna suck!

Lol! When I first watched Foyle's War, I couldn't believe that was her real name either. I figured it was a nickname or something, but I saw an interview with her and she confirmed it was her real name. Honeysuckle and Perdita (same name as the female dalmatian in 101 Dalmatians)have a brother named Rollo Percival! I think it's safe to assume that Mr. & Mrs. Weeks were hippies.

I agree. They are close in age so they aren't going the mentor/mentee route. The similar yet different war experiences of JQH and TM is what made their relationship interesting, but they can't do that if Higgins and Magnum are veterans of the same conflicts.

It's crazy! Why did they pick somebody so young? Higgins, whoever it (she/he) is, needs to be a generation older than Magnum! Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Emma Thompson, Vanessa Redgrave... Somebody like that!
