We do, since I know at least a couple of German MPI fans born after 1990. And even if the younger ones mostly might not know the series itself, at least the theme is recognized instantly by everyone.

absolutley
the series runs in german television for the most part every year.
this is one of the reasons, why tom selleck is recognizable for commercials.

He's at least recognizable to people who have time to watch it in late night TV ... I'd bet I'm not the only one of the post-1990-born generation who at the age of like 12 or 13 went to TV at night hoping not to be noticed and turned Super RTL on just to watch MPI
