Original 35mm slides of Magnum PI on location 1981 - EBAY

#1 Post by MagnumMagnet »

I have four 35mm slides of a Magnum PI scene being filmed on location in Hawaii from 1981.
Has a wonderful capture of the famous red Ferrari, other shows the production trailers and actresses in bikinis.

I'd greatly appreciate any if anyone could tell me from which episode this is from.

Thanks.

The slides are for sale on Ebay. (Link Below)

Great slides! It is always neat to see behind the scenes shots. I am stumped at the moment.....one clue that might help is T.C.'s van is in the parking lot......another clue.... the slides are marked Mar.81 so I'm thinking this was from either season 1 or season 2.......leaning towards 2.......now which episode had T.M. at the docks......hmmmmmm.

Not much to go on other than matching the girls to a show. First thing I thought of was the Love-For-Sale Boat - those bikinis remind me of ones the Asian girls wear in the show.

Now that I look at their faces though, I'm not convinced.

These are definitely from season one since the car we see on the images is 1978 308 GTS model, if I'm not mistaken. 8)

The season one episode with the docks in it is "Thicker than Blood". Watching it now to see if the shots are from there.

Good call! From James' section on the Ferrari, he writes:

"There were three different 308 GTS's used during the show's run. In the first season, the Ferrari was a 1978 308 GTS (one mirror, no rear spoiler, no front hood vent, red vents behind the headlights). For the second and third seasons, it was a 1980 308 GTSi (two rectangular mirrors, black vents behind the headlights). For the rest of the series, it was a 1984 308 GTSi Quattrovalvole (black vents on the hood and a black spoiler on the rear of the roof panel)."

The one in the image clearly has one mirror and the red vents behind the headlights.

Ha, nailed it! :D Shots are from the season's one episode "Don't Say Goodbye" shot at Hanauma Bay Beach Park. Episode was shot at March.
