Season 8 DVD release announced w/ COMMENTARY on 3 eps!
I just got the notice from tvshowsondvd.com that Season 8 has been officially announced by Universal for a MARCH 4th, 2008 release date. This time there's some actual bonus material: 3 commentary tracks! I know what you're thinking, and you're right; It's about damn time!
"Pleasure Principle" Commentary with Writer Jay Huguely
"Legend of the Lost Art" Commentary with Writer Jay Huguely
"Resolutions, Part II" Commentary with Executive Producer Charles Johnson
My guess is that universal wanted to keep the retail price the same despite the season being only 13 eps, so they added in some real bonus material.

FYI for anyone not familiar with the tvshowsondvd website, it's a great resource for upcoming releases, but also archives all of their announcements and news. Here's the link to all of the magnum dvd related news for the past 4 years all the way back to season 1...

This looks very nice, especially the Lance White bonus episode. Too bad they couldn't include both of his appearances, but I guess that season isn't out yet.
I wish they would've gotten Selleck to contribute something, but they probably figured his fee would be too high. On the plus side, writers and producers do tend to record better commentaries than actors.
But that's definitely some strange cover art. It appears that Magnum, having outpaced his costars on the cover of season 7, has now moved completely beyond them.

Not to mention James Whitmore Jr. ('Nuzo'/'Billy Joe Bob'), James Luisi (in ep. "Forty").SelleckLover wrote:Too bad they didn't include "Nice Guys Finish Dead" from The Rockford Files. Our TS AND Larry Manetti are in that one.
But that was a season 6 Rockford ep., and they're only up to releasing season 5 (in January)...

Hey, at least T.C. and Rick are not standing back-to-back off in the distance!Shermy wrote:But that's definitely some strange cover art. It appears that Magnum, having outpaced his costars on the cover of season 7, has now moved completely beyond them.

Tom does take over the lead producer role in Season 8, so it does make a little sense. But, really, there is no excuse not to have John, Roger and Larry on the cover, also.

To get back on the topic "bloopers", i recently asked Larry if there was any more blooper material, and he told me this.
"As far as more bloopers there are none that I know of."

TM "Rick wasn't overly enthusiastic about my plan. He thought it had some holes in it, and he was afraid they would end up in him...
I told him that was ridiculous."

I'm sure that when you take it out of it's sleeve, there will be the three of them there, like on the Season 7 set.James J.
