Recreating the Wardrobe, 2014

#1 Post by Marcus the Lifeguard »

After cleaning out my closet for the new year (rubber chicken and all), I began thinking about restocking it Magnum PI style. So here's my reinterpretation of Magnum's wardrobe based on what's available and fashionable for today. Let me know what I missed!

Welcome Marcus!

Nice job accumulating Magnum wear.

As additions:

I like the safari shirts from here: http://www.walkabout.com/shop/safari_apparel.asp

And you can get the "iconic" Magnum Hawai'ian shirts from here:
- Jungle bird http://www.mauishirts.com/junglebird.html
- Star Orchid http://www.mauishirts.com/starorchid.html
- Calla Lily http://www.mauishirts.com/tom-selleck-c ... found.html

Welcome!

Your selection looks pretty good to me.

There are others here (Conch R. being one!) that can comment with much more insight than myself, but it looks like you covered most of it already.

Don't forget your team ring, I see you have the watch, so I'd guess you'd want the ring too.

Unless you're up for spending a whole bunch of cash for real gold, or you don't mind silver, here's one to look at, http://hollywoodrobbie.weebly.com/magnum-pi-items.html he makes the closest to what you see in the show that I've found, and at a price that won't break the bank, but it IS over the $50 limit!

I think you're set, save for the red jungle bird shirt (It's always contemporary!)

I'd swap out the Tigers hat with the orange D to one with a white one, though. (And you can get one without the big flag on it).

I know the Tigers shop has them!

Good luck!

Don't forget about those collarless shirts! He wore them quite a bit. I have no clue where you'd find these shirts today. ;)

And this look, with cigar and brandy...

Another link for the Magnum Gear section!

Which, by the way, I should have guided Marcus to earlier.

Just so you know Marcus, JJ has just about everything covered. His site is like a Magnum Magic 8 Ball without the "ask again later" option.

A quick search for "mandarin collar shirt" will give you plenty of results. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandarin_collar

I know you can find collarless shirts today, but none of them look like the ones he wore in the 80's (at least none that I can find). This came up in a thread a couple of years ago. Several people were trying to find the shirts, but none were successful. A thrift store may be your only hope. ;)
