Magnum on Encore Love Channel
MPI is coming to Encore Love Channel starting on December 1st, 2013. Monday to Friday at 7pm Central Time. I just bought the box set and now I'll end up watching TS and the gang on TiVo instead. Ha! Isn't it always the way?

Terry, Dia duit mo chomhbhaill tÉireannach. I was born and raised in Galway. I live in the Midwest U.S. now. I was watching Magnum when I first thought of leaving Ireland. I was thirteen and my grandad was in Merlin Park Hospital slowly dying. I was sitting next to him looking out the window. It was in the summertime when you have the late evenings. The sky was grey, the buildings were grey, the footpath was grey, the carpark was grey, the ward was grey, the sheets were grey, and my grandad was grey. In the silence I looked up at the tv in the corner and there was the most beautiful red sports car set against this sun-kissed green landscape. I thought, "I want to live there." I remember that moment like it just happened. I had never watched Magnum before that evening, but I became an instant fan. I ended up living on Oahu for four years when I was in the Army. My kids still live there with my ex-wife so I visit twice a year. It truly is paradise. Magnum has been my favorite tv show since that night in the hospital. Over the years though it's the friendship between the the four characters that has kept me watching. It's what makes the show so special. I'll be watching reruns until they box me up and plant me.

I've read several stories here about how we all discovered Magnum, but yours, sir, takes the cake. Thanks!Fr. Paddy McGuinness wrote:Terry, Dia duit mo chomhbhaill tÉireannach. You are obviously a "doer", and you "got er' done" to your own liking, good on ya!
Also, it would appear we have another writer in our midst...that paragraph you penned left me wanting to read more, that's one of the ways I can tell if an author is somebody I'd like to see more from. Are you an author, perhaps? If not, you could be, IMHO.
Either way, glad you made it here, and I for one look forward to hearing more of your experiences, Magnum or otherwise.

Always good to hear from an Irish bruddah. We have 50 shades of grey here at present partly because its November and partly because the " Celtic Tiger " like the dinosaur is extinct. However on a positive note concerning our economy we're being told there is light at the end of the tunnel. So unlike Magnum in " Limbo" we are moving towards the light.Fr. I fell in love with Hawaii watching an episode of "Hawaii Five 0 "in a neighbour's house. I was already a fan of the show but the neighbour had a colour TV. The palms swaying in technicolour on that landscape. When H50 finished I immediately started watching MPI. It was love at first sight. I even managed to get my hands on 2 aloha shirts and would wear them on holiday in Spain.
Its wonderful you lived in Oahu for 4 years and served in the army there. This should give you an added insight into the world of Thomas Sullivan Magnum. Plus the most important thing is you get to go twice a year and be with the kids.
In May 2007 my wife and I stayed in Lahaina, Maui for 3 weeks. It was a dream realised for me and it was these two iconic shows that started the dream. I checked into hiring a Ferrari while there but the cost was prohibitive .......... to say the least. However we had great fun in a convertible Mustang. I truely understand now why Hawaii is commonly referred to as Paradise.
Like you I'll keep watching MPI until I am in a boxset.

Re: Magnum on Encore Love Channel
Thanks for the heads up Paddy. I've added the info to the main page. Magnum's all over the place now: Netflix, Hulu, Cozi, and now Encore! The Magnum spirit is alive and well.
