I suppose just about anything can be debated, but I'm not seeing it. There were shots from the show that almost made me wonder the same thing...kinda looked like one eye was looking at you and the other was a "little" bit off center, but that may be splitting hairs. He has very wide set eyes, so that may add to the illusion.

I have a good freind who is "moon-eyed", at least that's what I've always heard it called. When he is looking directly at you, one eye looks exactly at you, but the other one seems to be completely focused on something off to the side. Not "cross-eyed", but kind of off putting at time especially if you are not used to it.

Just a couple more thoughts on the matter. :magnum:

Good point about the wide set eyes. In pleasure principle in the beginning there is a close up
of his face and I think you you can see it there. could it be the angle of the camera?

I don't see it, and I am pretty attuned to people's eye alignment problems and notice them when others don't, being born with Duane Syndrome myself (though fortunately my "set point" is both eyes straight forward, I just can't turn my eyes outward.)
My essay "In Country: Place and Historical Connection in Magnum PI", about the importance of the Honolulu/Vietnam connection in the show:

Might be the "power of suggestion", but the more I watch, the more I'm convinced you may be on to something concerning the "lazy eye".

Not sure what the "official" diagnosis or technical description would be, but at times when Tom is looking directly at someone/something, it appears that the pupils in both eyes are not at the same level, top to bottom. Also, when looking sideways, you can almost see where one pupil is centered, while the other is just slightly "off center", but again, it could be debated.

It's one of those things that really doesn't matter, as we all have idiosyncrasies both physical and otherwise, just part of being human.

Again, not sure what the technical definition of "lazy eye" is, but after closer observation, I think you might have a case.

But...he DOES have wide set eyes! :magnum:
