What about the Naval officer that McGarrett goes to for sat-photos, etc. She isnt bad at all.
...and that, as they say, is the hell of it.

Wasn't she in the last episode? I think Steve went to see her before she left for work. They seemed to get along pretty good.

Have been on Oahu for a week now and the day after we got here we were having lunch at the Gordon Biersch restaurant, when in walked the entire film crew of Five O :D Sadly though, the only member of the cast in attendance was Max. Was soooo tempted to say something to him but didnt!

This afternoon we passed by The Estate but unfortunately there was no way we could get onto the beach. Not only was the tide in, but with the high winds they have been having here in the islands, today the waves were really crashing against the concrete retaining walls of the beach properties.

From the front of the property, nothing looks any different from last year at this time, with the blue tarp, still hanging there. Sad.

After all of these years the Anderson's probably don't 'see' the tarp anymore. It has become part of their house and it doesn't bother them. I think we have all had projects, repairs etc. that have dragged on and we pass it everyday becoming less sensitive to the eyesore as the days pass and I bet friends, relatives etc. make comments about it behind our backs too. We get comfortable with our surroundings and are not always out to impress others. I hate that tarp just as much as anyone, but at the same time my own house needs things done on it too......It is easy to be an outsider and point out the things that need fixing, but when it is your own house and you have to pay for the repairs and/or do them yourself, it doesn't have the same priority as the house down the road. The Anderson Estate is everyone's dream house on this forum and it kills us to see it this way, but at the end of the day it's Eve's house and we have no power over what she does or doesn't do with the place. It hurts, but what can we do. I'm going to start by finishing one of my marathon DIY projects.

JJW..... re the tarp. We have been coming here for the past ten years and the tarp has always been hanging from the second floor. Am sure it is for added privacy.

Kenjii... Its just the awful way in which repairs are made to the Estate. From what I have read, I cannot believe monies have not been there for much needed repairs. The attempted paint job on the boat house was never completed and the white plastic tubing used for the gate is absolutely disgusting. Its just when you stand there and look at these things, you have to wonder why????

Hi Lily,

I totally agree with you in regards to the repairs and it stings to see it get this way, but there are things that we have no control over in life and this in one of them. It is puzzling in some regards to why it is in the present shape, but it could be she inherited the house however there was no inheritence money for repairs.............I know somehow she is related to the Cox Cable empire and you would think there would be at least a trickle of money coming in from there, but maybe she wasn't close with that side of the family....who knows, we could come up with a few more scenarios too, but it doesn't change anything. It is still fun to dream of what it could be and that's where we have to leave it unless someone can afford to buy it and that is if Eve is even willing to sell. On a brighter note, I finished two house projects at my place that will please the neighbours and my wife, while thinking of the estate the entire time, so there you go.

Oh, I just assumed it was there for some kind of construction/remodeling project. I guess interior curtains wouldn't work there??

JJW... One would think internal drapes should suffice, for the average person! [/quote]

This is purely speculation, but if the tarp is for privacy, it does have some logic even if it is ugly. Remember, the upstairs of this home has no internal hallways. To go from any bedroom downstairs require that you step out onto the balcony which is open for all to see. So imagine going for a quick snack to the kitchen at night in your pajamas. You would have to walk out onto the balcony, down the stairs, out the front doors (not the side doors by the driveway), and through doors in the side entry vestibule to get to the kitchen. Not the most private path!

This was a second home for her grandparents who built it. It has unique architectural elements like that just described which are perhaps suitable for a vacation home. Now she lives there year round, and it does present some challenges, especially without a full staff as her grandparents undoubtably had.

See, now that makes perfect sense! Thanks Pahonu! An oriental rug would look nicer, but a blue tarp does have a certain charm to it. ;)

Am sure what you have written Pahonu, is correct. The old tarp looks so very tacky and hanging there all these years is yet another indication that there can be no pride of home ownership.
