Could the change in the tidal pool be caused in any way by the tsunami in March.

The tidal pool was already as you see it now before the Tsunami in March.

I have been lurking this site for years, but I finally broke down and signed up.

I am so glad I am not the only nutjob with a Magnum fetish out there!

Excellent thread, excellent site. I look forward to contributing in the near future. When I finally make it to Oahu, I be making my pilgrimage to Robin's Nest!

Oh, and just recently, Tales of the Gold Monkey was released on DVD. It was another of Belisario's Hawaiin projects. Even though it only lasted one season, I read that they filmed quite a bit of it in Hawaii. The show was set in Pre WWII, so there may not be any shots of the estate.

In the pilot, however, I do recognize the pier/dock thing where Island Hoppers is supposed to be. I will try to take a screen shot to show you.

Thanks for that Majordomo. Gold Monkey is already on my 'To Buy' list, but now that you've told me it was filmed in Hawaii as well - it's just been bumped to the top of the list.

They seem pretty laid back in Hawaii (Maui and Kauai at least). Maybe Ms. Anderson wouldn't get too miffed if some jumped the fence and video taped the grounds.

I assume she does not live there, so it may be possible to get some really good footage...

She does live there, they have jumped the fence, and she does get annoyed.

Mrs. Anderson does live at the Estate and I have seen her several times with her dogs. One time she even waved to me and I so wanted to speak to her but didnt. Its called respecting a persons privacy.

I wouldn't have the nerve to do it myself. I was just hoping to live vicariously through someone else's shennanigans.

I know, we just need to contact her and be straight up. let her know we belong to a community that really loves the show and if one of us could be permitted to enter the premises and take a few pics/videos, then we could post them on here and, in doing so, help to thin out all of the daring fanatics who do venture over the wall.

I would volunteer myself for this task, but I do not expect to get over to Hawaii for another couple of years

I am actually surprised she lives there still. From the recent photos, it looks a bit neglected. I would have thought if someone was living there, it would have been kept up better.

OK, idea number two. This is Magnum-esque and totally doable. Someone could do some snooping around to see if she has a landscape company that may come in from time to time to spruce up the place. Contact one of the workers and have them take pics/videos of the grounds while out and about. Then pay the guy for his efforts. It won't get us any pics of the inside, but at least it would help Pohonou to finish his Sketchup design.

Your best bet is still probably with The Honolulu Pug Meetup Group. All you need to do is move to Oahu, buy a pug, join the group... and you're in! The Sacred Grounds await you.

The mystery of the sand may finally have an explanation. I was talking to former yokozuna Musashimaru yesterday. He grew up on Hawaii. I told him I had visited there in February and been to the east side of the island, and he said "why did you go in winter? There is no sand" He explained that the tides are cyclical and raise and lower the levels of the sand on the beaches throughout the year.

Am sure Mr. Musashimaru is right in what he says re tides lowering levels of sand on beaches in Hawaii, but not to the extent as you see at the Estate's beach.

We have been visiting Oahu for the past nine years now and it is always in February to March and up until a Magnum member here who lives on Oahu (sorry can't remember his name!) reported the beach had been dug out, the level of sand had always remained the same. After the removal of sand was reported (it had been dumped into the tidal pool), we happened to visit the Estate and believe me, what you now see has been done by man alone.

In February this year, we noticed that sand was beginning to creep back in the area left of the concrete steps, so this small amount is due to the tides. Would also like to point out that sand outside properties along the same beach, did not change.
