Magnum PI joke on Seinfeld

#1 Post by steveadl »

This is old news, but just watched the episode again so thought I'd mention it.

For Seinfeld fans who have the DVD's (can't find it on YouTube and don't know how to capture a sound clip) - check out Jerry's closing monologue joke on Season 4 episode 1 - "The Trip Pt 1"

Made me laugh.

So.... what does Mr. Seinfeld have to say about the show? How does the joke go?
Higgins: It's not a scratch! It's a bloody gouge!

It loses a bit of it's effect in writing but...

Closing monologue.

Talk show hosts never seem to have any idea how much time is left in the show.
You know, they're always looking off camera, "Do we have time? Are we out of time? How we doin' on time? Anybody know what the time is? What's the time? Check the time?"
You never see Magnum P.I. go, "Should I strangle this guy or are we gonna take a break here? Can you stay for another beating? I'll tell you what, I'll bop him in the head, we'll do a commercial, we'll come back, I'll drive in the car real fast, stay with us."

:D

He really is a talented comedian. Legend.
"How fiendishly deceptive of you Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent."

Agreed. Instead of trying to be over the top with language or antics, he simplified it and milked the biggest source of material out there............everyday life.

He's still on top of his game too. I just saw him on the Oprah finale gala (er...my wife had it on, honest!) and I laughed my ass off.

But... Oh, never mind. I guess it's kind of funny. Sort of. Eh, I've never been much of a Seinfeld fan, but its cool to see him reference MPI!

I like Jerry Seinfeld but I don't get the above joke. Meh.
