So, just how rare is the LJN action figure?

For all non-episode specific topics about the show, including MPI-related "tie-ins"

Okay, I've put together a reasonable MPI figure, same height as the original LJN figure, but much easier to obtain. All you need are two certain old-school GI Joe figs (easy to obtain off the net or a local comic shop, which is where I got mine).

You need a 1985 Footlooose figure, like the one seen here:

http://www.yojoe.com/action/85/footloose.shtml

and a 1987 Chuckles figure, like this one:

http://www.yojoe.com/action/87/chuckles.shtml

All you do is loosen the screw in the back of the figures, and switch the heads. You end up with an MPI 3/4" figure waaaay cheaper than agenuine LJN fig! Take a look:

(The other figure could be a loose interpretation of Rick, as well).

What do you all think?

Someone wanting to start their own Magnum figure could start off with this figure.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %26otn%3D2
and maybe this for good measure
http://cgi.ebay.com/1-6-scale-WW2-1911- ... 286.c0.m14
of course he would need clothes..I'm thinking the vietnam era fatigues/beret or a different modern look ...here's a fairly close cap that could be turned into a seal cap.

Hey, nice job Lars! :)

I know you don't have much control over his face, but he looks a lot like a young Burt Reynolds to me. Too funny!

only looking,

HOW can you forsake MGI so . . . cavalierly??? Has everyone forgotten all his different costumes and props (he HAS that automatic pistol [see bare-chested loading clip portion and hop through the jungle] AND the jungle camos) in the MGI Magnum intro (see page 2 of this thread)?

Well, okay, forsake him! Just keep in mind that, even as I type on his behalf right NOW, he's in St. Thomas (no pun intended -- any of you have an island with your name?) enjoying the view (ignore that cow in the pink swimsuit . . . . ), and you aren't . . . . .

Yes, MGI and I are in the Caribbean -- again! Just came down here on Sat. for a snorkel swim or two before heading back on Sunday.

His little plastic heart is broken. . . . . so he will retire for tonight.

In the words of a great and wise bunny..."Golf you've been eatin' onions" :D No one could ever replace your little guy as he is the orignal..but if someone would want their own little guy..I was giving them some options...I apologize if I am been so cruel as to drive Magnum to the bed so early and worse yet..you to drink..I am ashamed!!! My intentions madam were simply to inform to insult......wait a cotton pickin' second...YOU"RE IN THE CARIBBEANS!! Now I'm the one who is sad..LOL Seriously enjoy your trip and remember to put some suntan lotion on yourself and maybe a little turtle wax for MGI.

Wow, this one

looks like Bob from the (awful) Bob & Tom Show.

I just want to say THANKS Golf ! MGI never fails to bring a much needed smile in this most difficult time. You are a genius when it comes to posing the little guy.

James, as we know from L.A. Magnum is easily wrongly identified as Burt Reynolds.

Wow......Great pictures, Golf. It was 17 years ago this coming Labor Day weekend that my wife and I were married on a beach at The Elysian Beach Resort in St. Thomas. The gentleman that performed the ceremony came rolling up on a Harley, in jeans, t-shirt and his pack of Winston's rolled up in his sleeve. Of course he put on the ceremonial robe but man, he sure was living the Magnum lifestyle down there as he dropped out of mainland society in the eighties.........

only looking,

Okay, MGI backs off. He didn't realize you weren't snubbing him and just encouraging others to acquire an MGI of their own. He has asked me to offer you a bouquet of frangi-pangi blossoms he gathered in the parking lot in St. Thomas this weekend as a peace offering.

Image

Now, personally, I think every fan here should acquire his/her OWN MGI of some kind or another, and when we have our First Annual Magnum Mania Convention, we all must come in wearing our parrot/jungle shirts or Magnum t-shirts or Detroit Tigers or Al's Automotive baseball caps -- and waving a homemade Magnum PI action figure (even if it's only a wooden clothespin with a moustache painted on!).

MGI has no need or reason to apologize. With the traveling..it stresses you out and he was probably tired. I haven't gotten around to making my own MGI..and to be honest don't think anyone can top your little guy..I especially love your intro! :D I just finished making my hat rack which has been a project for over 3 years..and I'm glad it's over. NOTHING went right..but now sitting here starring at it..I'm pretty happy. I took the hat arrangement from "Little girl who" and position mine to match. I don't have a digital camera to replace my old..but soon I will post my Magnum PI prop collection...which has really grown over the 20 years collecting.

This may be a little late in coming, but our buddy Magnum GI kinda looks like Oates from Hall and Oates.

(With all respect)
