Magnum #6 Opening Credits Among 80's Action Shows

#1 Post by StarchedUndershirts »

That's the good news. The blogger has NO CLUE about this show IMO.

Here's his ranking of Magnum, followed by the worst review of a tv show EVER:

Action: 7
Sexiness: 6
Cheesiness: 5
Homoerotecism: 9
Intangables: 7
TOTAL: 34

"Everyone is familliar wth the opening credits. Hawaii...the Ferarri...explosions...Selleck's Stache...it's all there. Watching it now, I really wonder if Magnum was gay. I mean. he lived on an estate with Higgins, who clearly was a homosexual,he had a mechanic that liked to wear nothing under his overalls, and was buddies with Rick, the flamboyant club owner.HMMM."
Let's see....Higgins wasn't gay,Magnum had many lady friends, his "buddies" weren't gay lovers, they served with Magnum in 'Nam,TC isn't a mechanic, but does know how to fix his own chopper,Rick isn't flamboyant.
Also, ranking Miami Vice #25 (out of 25) and ranking the A-Team in the top three is DUMB. As is leaving out Macgyver.
Here's the link to view the rest of the list:

Ugh! Yeah, that's pretty much the worst MPI review I've ever seen! The author has obviously not watched many episodes. If he had, he would have seen T.C. constantly working on his chopper (or fixing the Ferrari), or Magnum sleeping with (female) clients, or Rick falling in love with every other woman he meets, or Higgins talking about the "awesome" time he had with three daughters of a Bedouin Prince in Alexandria.
Higgins: It's not a scratch! It's a bloody gouge!

He obviously didn't see "The Woman On The Beach" where Rick falls in love with three different women

Also, maybe TC was wearing nothing under his overalls because he was in...........HAWAII!

Granted, whomever set up this "list" had some sort of an agenda. However.... Saw the "Tales of the Gold Monkey" intro for the first time... And man (woman), did it look bad. Glad my childhood memories not remember THAT!

How can you take anyone seriously that ranks TJ Hooker at number one, and Miami Vice at number 25........

This guy has obviously missed the boat. Not much credibility in his list.

Worst review ever. The guy clearly has his own agenda. Probably never got past the intro or, at best, he watched a few episodes. I guess to be politically correct these days one must include "homoeroticism" as a category. Let's see...."The Beverly Hillbillies" scores a (-3) and MPI, oh golly, it's up there with a 9!! Plus Higgins....gimme a break. Hey, back in the day, Vietnam, no way! That was the 60s and 70s. If the composer of that blog had any experiences in battle he would understand male bonding without having to make uninformed observations with sexual implications.
I'd love to see a reality show...."Queer Eye Meets Jed Clampett." Watch out for Granny on that one!

This person should seriously think about taking his/her anti-psychotic drugs BEFORE writing a review! Was he/she really watching the same show I watched for 8 seasons? I realize that everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion but this person really doesn't know what he/she is talking about!

The review reminds me of the spate of "top 10" shows that we had here in the UK a few years ago, typically on a Saturday night.

They'd get c-list "celebrities" to talk about shows, when they'd probably seen half an episode once ever, and talk like they were experts on it.

I remember on show, "I love 1981", that featured MPI. One of the "celebrity experts" picked up on Magnum and Higgins being "gay".
On Magnum (the character), they said something like "and he never had a girl in the Ferrari" ... hello, have you even watched a single episode?? He has a girl in there like, every other ep!

(I still have this on VHS somewhere, I'll try and upload it to YouTube at some point)

The queer eye guys would be straight for a few months until they picked all of Granny's rock salt out of their butts.

I know what you mean though. This has been going on forever. In Lew Wallace's Ben-Hur, the brotherly love between Ben-Hur and the Roman Messala is very strong. When the book became the Movie we all remember, the director William Wyler had to reign in writer Gore Vidal (who swings both ways) from making the relationship an implied homosexual one.

Some people can't take things at face value.

Speaking of shows in the UK, one of my faves was the sporadically aired "Bring Back..." with Justin Lee Collins. That guy is totally hilarious. I loved the Star Wars and A-Team episodes (Fame was pretty good too) and I really hoped he'd get around to MPI.

But I've recently heard the project got canned.

p.s., for those who haven't seen these shows, you can watch the full episodes on youtube.

I must say that this is the very first time the word "gay" comes to my mind in relation to Magnum.
No offense, but the idea seems idiotic to me.

Edit: he (or she) is rating the credits, not the show.
