You chose.... wisely.
Yep, I loved the premise of luring the witness out of hiding to kill him. Great twist!
Ivan, did you post that video here before? I think you shared it with me in another thread because I’ve seen it before.IvanTheTerrible wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 3:55 pmYou chose.... wisely.I thought you might like it. Yep, Filer is back at it again. Another great turn by Hume Cronyn who I maintain should have been nominated (and won!) an Emmy. Here he actually plays two characters - Filer and Elmo Ziegler. Great fun! Granted, the episode isn't as memorable as "Over Fifty? Steal" where he first popped up but it's still a solid follow-up. The escape at the beginning was fun and I enjoyed watching him stay one step ahead of both McGarrett and the gangsters.
Oh... for a special treat... here's a very rare behind the scenes look at the filming of the show. As a matter of fact it's the filming of this episode. At the 0:50 mark you can see James MacArthur with the guy who played Goro Shibata and the third guy looks like stuntman/frequent guest Beau Van Den Ecker. Then you see director Paul Stanley who directed this episode (and many others, including my favorite "Rest in Peace, Somebody") doing his thing. Cool little featurette - enjoy!!

By the way, that's series creator Leonard Freeman at the 2:40 mark speaking about the future of Five-O, projecting that they'll get renewed for a 5th season (which ended up being their highest-rated season). He would pass away in 1974, after which Jack Lord pretty much took over the show.
Honestly I can't remember. I'm sure I shared it before but not sure with whom or whether it was even here at magnum-mania. I just thought it was really cool to find actual on-location shooting for the show, when things like this are so difficult to find. Someone said Jack Lord was notorious in suppressing things like this, bloopers, etc. Maybe he didn't want to give away the magic by showing behind the scenes stuff. He did like privacy.
I agree, it’s pretty unusual, for a show of that era particularly. I think the first entertainment television shows started in the early 80’s with Entertainment Tonight. I would love to see something like that for The Rockford Files!IvanTheTerrible wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:53 amHonestly I can't remember. Yep, you're exactly spot-on about this one! Most fans agree it's like watching 2 different episodes. The first part is very intriguing and suspenseful and you have no idea what's going on as things unfold. The second half is, well, boring.
