Do we have any approximate date timelines (in-universe) for each season?

IE Season 1 spans November-December 1980 through - ?? 1981
Season 8 spans January 1988 to January 1989??

That sort of thing.

Sorry, I can only give you an incomplete answer. I thought the DVDs gave all the air dates, but they did for only one season, the 5th.

5th season: September 1984 - April 1985

This is close... in terms of original air dates, filming would be a bit different.

Season 1: December 1980 - April 1981
Season 2: October 1981 - April 1982
Season 3: September 1982 - April 1983
Season 4: September 1983 - May 1984
Season 5: September 1984 - April 1985
Season 6: September 1985 - April 1986
Season 7: October 1986 - April 1987
Season 8: October 1987 - May 1988

Yes. For example, Unfinished Business takes place in late January 1988 for the characters. But later that same season we see Thomas' birthday, which is likely January of 1989 (If his birthday was in August, he wouldn't be wearing winter clothes in DC). I'm just trying to pin-down the "in show" dates that occur for Thomas and the gang. Not the airdates. Basically when each season begins and ends for the character in-universe.

I don't think there's enough reference to current dates in the episodes to put something like this together. The writers also played around with things to make it work. While we do have TM's birthday noted as August 8th, his driver's license says January 5, 1946. I think trying to peg all the dates down would be an exercise in futility...
