Harold Robbins - The Real Robin Masters

It was interesting to read that Glen A. Larson based the character Robin Masters on the famous author Harold Robbins. That's a great piece of trivia for our Trivia Section.

They both shared the same name (sort of....in part), wrote the same type of novel and were best selling authors, had homes around the world, drove fancy cars, liked to gamble (our Robin bet the Estate in a crooked card game) and hosted legendary parties, but Harold took this lifestyle even further hosting orgies and doing drugs. Thank goodness Glen tamed it down for tv (no choice back then). Agatha's line....."Jonathon, Jonathon come quickly, your hot crust buns are smoking....", could take on a whole new meaning with what we know now..... At the end of the day it appears Harold went through wives and money as fast as our Robin's Ferrari! I've often wondered whatever happened to our Robin......Did he die penniless or continued to be a success until his death?

Interesting his real name was Francis Kane (Citizen Kane). I guess the Robin Masters/Higgins mystery is our Rosebud..........

What a cool post. I often wondered if the creators of Magnum had an inspiration in mind with the character of Robin Masters. This forum rocks.

Excellent point ... We wonder all the time about Magnum after the show ended, but what happened to Robin?
