Curious about Lowest Rated Episode
Anyone know what that is according to the site here?
I did a quick search of the forums and couldn't find one but I'm planning to re-watch a lot of episodes over my short break coming up, and wanted to include a few that were generally considered least successful episodes.

Kiss of the Sabre is generally thought to be crappy.
Maybe that's just me.

Re: Curious about Lowest Rated Episode
My guess would be Two Birds of a Feather - it's not even a Magnum episode really. Even Selleck said he didn't like it. My personal vote, however, would be Under World.

I agree, I don't like Two Birds of a Feather. I also don't like the two crossover episodes with Simon and Simon and Murder She Wrote....

I agree. These episodes felt too forced to me.Steve wrote:Styles Bitchley wrote:My guess would be Two Birds of a Feather - it's not even a Magnum episode really. Even Selleck said he didn't like it. My personal vote, however, would be Under World.

It's not the easiest way, but check out each episode in the Seasons and at the top there should be a poll.Turkey wrote:Anyone know what that is according to the site here?

Some not so popular ones (not mentioned above) are:
One More Summer (S2)
The Taking Of Dick McWilliams (S2)
Heal Thyself - Don't know if it's really lower ranked.. But I'm not a fan (S3)
Smaller Than Life (S4) -Universally panned
Murder 101 (S5) - I kind of like it
Most of Season Six
Out Of Sync (S7)
A Girl Named Sue (S8)
The great Hawaiian Adventure Company (S8)
I'm sure there's more, but trying to rack my brain around the ones that stood out with the most complaints.

I think I remember that one, another writer? Will check it out, thanks, Conch!ConchRepublican wrote:Kiss of the Sabre is generally thought to be crappy.

Ah! That one I just looked up and do remember, thanks Styles. I remember liking the temple flashback but then...yeah, I can see why it's not loved.Styles Bitchley wrote:My guess would be Two Birds of a Feather - it's not even a Magnum episode really. Hey Steve & Stelth, the Murder She Wrote was a little annoying for me, yeah - Jessica's pacing isn't quite a fit for a show like Magnum I think? Will check out the Simon & Simon one too, thanks!Stelth wrote: I agree. These episodes felt too forced to me.

Thanks, Doc - appreciate this list and the suggestion, I'll try that method for sure.
Of those I definitely remember finding 'A Girl Named Sue' a little annoying and 'The Taking...' seemed a little flat, but I don't recall 'Smaller than Life' at all, will check it out right now, along with Murder 101.
Is S6 generally not well-received? It's been a year or so since I saw those episodes. S7 must be a bit of a 'return to form' on some levels then?

Ah - I kinda remember 'Smaller than Life Now' - the guest star's kinda familiar but I don't recall it well. Might check it out too, see how I go

It depends on who you ask, but I believe during that time the estate was unavailable.. So a lot of the stories had a bit of improvisation to them. Some of them aren't BAD and there are some classics "Way of the Stalking Horse".. For example but not to the form of other episodes.Turkey wrote:Doc Ibold wrote:It's not the easiest way, but check out each episode in the Seasons and at the top there should be a poll.Turkey wrote:Anyone know what that is according to the site here?

Re: Curious about Lowest Rated Episode
I find S5 to be the weakest. But I know others feel differently.Doc Ibold wrote:It's not the easiest way, but check out each episode in the Seasons and at the top there should be a poll.

I just did a quick check of all the ones mentioned so far and Two Birds has the lowest ratings (6.8/10). The next lowest I found was Smaller than Life (7/10).
I should point out that I looked on the site, rather than the forum thread. The thread is more accurate because James has to actually check each one and manually type it into each episode in the guide, so the numbers on the site may be out of date. It Just would have taken me longer to check the other way!

Ah, that's interesting - I didn't know the estate wasn't available. When I re-watch 6 I'll try and note how many episodes feature it.Doc Ibold wrote: It depends on who you ask, but I believe during that time the estate was unavailable.. I really enjoyed Deja Vu first time around, keen to see it again and I don't remember many other episodes - will check out Way of the Stalking Horse too, cool and thanks

Re: Curious about Lowest Rated Episode
Yeah, I saw that with Two Birds - seems to be the lowest ep? It actually reminds me, I think the first magnum episode I saw wasn't Two Birds, but Birdman of Budapest perhaps - very different ep!Styles Bitchley wrote:

I remember a few from S5 - Little Games and the first two are the Sharon Stone ones, huh?
I'll check that way too and see what else I come up with - reflecting on some of season 8 I've just realised I'm not sure how much I enjoyed the Raiders parody - in that, I love the idea of it, but the episode itself felt a little rushed, perhaps?
