I am sure that I must not be the only one who thinks that Tom Selleck should co-star as Magnum on the new Hawaii Five-O show. The connection with Steve McGarrett and Magnum, who were both in the Navy, could be the basis of Tom Selleck coming back as Thomas Magnum.
And since Tom Selleck is with CBS (on Blue Bloods), it seems that CBS could make this a reality. I think that would be a great hit with the fans of both Hawaii Five-O and Magnum, P.I.

Or . . . Magnum became so famous (infamous?) in law enforcement in Hawaii that the Jersey guy automatically mocked the "legend".Dan wrote:I think it's already been established that Magnum in the new Hawaii Five-0 series exists as a TV show rather than a real person. Danno paid out a PI, mocking him as 'Magnum'.
It's possible . . .

Steve, you sure are an eternal optimist. I stopped holding my breath a long time ago.Steve wrote:In my opinion I think it would have to start with an appearance by Roger and Larry to get any ball rolling for Tom to show up. It sure would cause a buzz that might get an original cast movie back on the radar screen............

I think the two references to "Magnum" that have occurred on the show are ambiguous enough to where they could go either way (real guy or tv show), although it certainly seems like Danno was referring to Magnum the TV Guy.
I like Conch's idea. Thomas Magnum is a legend on the islands (and is well-known in certain circles on the mainland and elsewhere). All people in law enforcement on the islands know of him, even island newbies from Jersey. As a matter of fact, they teach you about him and his cases as part of your orientation.
They could easily play it this way. Man, that would just be fantastic; Recurring roles for Selleck, Mosley and Manetti (and maybe have Hillerman literally phone in some dialog)!
The original HF0 was part of the Magnum universe, and so should HF0 2.0.

If it happened it would be the TV event to end all TV events...
Admiral Magnum and Lieutenant Commander McGarrett are old Navy friends?
Danny's ex is actually the niece of one Jonathan Higgins?
If anything, I'd like to see a character in Five-0 reading a Robin Masters novel. That would be enough...
