Interesting Tidbit

I found an interesting tidbit of information in an LA Times obituary on Tuesday. Apparently Philip "Flippy" Hoffman, big-wave surfer and fabric store owner, created the design for one of Magnum's aloha shirts. To quote the article:

"In the 1980s, one of the Hoffman tropical screen-print designs was used for the iconic aloha shirt worn by Tom Selleck in the TV series "Magnum, P.I." The garment is now in the Smithsonian Institution."

Interesting! So he's the one who designed the Red Hawaiian Jungle Bird Shirt!

In looking at his bio, a surfing legend indeed! What a life he led.
