The Don Equis beer ad (the first one, not the second)

#1 Post by tangcameo »

I don't know about anyone else here, but that "Most Interesting Man In The World" ad (the first one, not the somewhat cheesy second one) is MY version of Robin Masters. Forget Orson Welles, or Truman Capote, or whoever else they made him out to be - THAT GUY is who I always thought Robin Master looked like - personality-wise too.

Whoops! This is RJMasters speaking. Can't remember my RJM password and email. lol

I love those ads! I never thought about it before, but he is kind of a Robin Masters character! He doesn't really have a Truman Capote body, though. ;)

"He could disarm you with his looks... or his hands, either way."

How weird, I thought the same thing when I saw it!

"He once had an awkward moment, just to see what it would be like"

LOL!

I'm not usually one to champion commercials, but these ads are brilliantly crafted.

There is one scene where he is running down a dirt road with a fox in his arms (while laughing). He's being chased, and you briefly hear the sounds of dogs in the background. The guy apparently rescued a fox from a fox hunt and is now being pursued by the master of foxhounds and his hounds!

The "Most Interesting Man in the World", indeed!

Now only if it were an add for Coops we'd be onto something!

Funny adverts indeed, but the concept is lifted from all those hilarious Chuck Norris jokes.
"How fiendishly deceptive of you Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent."
