Well, I've just finished my reviews of Season 6, so seems like a good time to revive another ancient thread.
I've decided I've been too hard on S6 over the years - I find it much better than the terrible Season 5!
1. WAY OF THE STALKING HORSE - One of the grittiest feeling stories, this is a really strong episode from this end of the show's run.
2. PHOTO PLAY - I know some will take issue with this (and I agree that Cassie Yates is hard going) but I just found this one so funny, especially the cat speech!
3. DEJA VU - Although over-talkative, and maybe more could have been done with the plot, I have to love this one simply because it is Magnum visiting my home country! Actually, make this joint second.
4. THE TREASURE OF KALANIOPU'U - I now feel I've overlooked this one for many years - coming to re-watch it to review, I really enjoyed it.
5. SUMMER SCHOOL - Another ep that I've somewhat overlooked through the years, this one is really fun. Too bad we never saw R.J. again in the series.
Honourable mentions: 'OLD AQUAINTANCE' - not a classic, but after the weak and over-serious fifth season, this was a refreshing return to the feel of earlier seasons. 'MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMEN' would have made Top 5, but it would have worked far better as a two-parter.
I didn't like 'ALL THIEVES ON DECK' (although many do) or 'A LITTLE BIT OF LUCK... A LITTLE BIT OF GRIEF', but taking the turkey is 'THIS ISLAND ISN'T BIG ENOUGH...'

I wonder why in the other thread season 6 was criticized. I think it does contain some no brainer episodes but I also think it contained several important character development episodes for both Higgins and Magnum.
I thought "I never wanted to go to France anyway" was a strong story as well as Mad Dogs and Englishmen, however the latter IMHO was stunted by being a one part story; agreeing with the comment made above. It started out strong, but finished with the typical fist / gun fight sequences, but in contrast the coda was strong as well.
Way of the stalking horse was a dramatic improvement mainly in directing. It's a shame this feeling wasn't extended to more episodes.
