Really? I honestly can't see it being anyone other than him. Looks just like his uncredited mug.

I get what you're saying about this one. It's a good episode with a very good story and it's got Ned Beatty as the lumbering bear of a killer who's both sadistic and creepy and yet you don't walk away from this one thinking it's really great. It kinda falls into the middle of the pack for the season for me. Maybe because Beatty doesn't really play a psycho whose victims seem to be random and Five-O has to figure out a pattern. Those are always the best. Here Five-O knows what the scoop is - hookers are targeted and the reason is because they refuse to pay up. It's just a matter of catching the culprit and putting the heat on the man who hired him.T.Q. wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 11:02 pm Oldest Profession - Latest Price
Pretty good. Not a great episode for me for some reason.
Good story though. Extortion of working girls.
Reminded me: "They're whores Magnum".![]()
Ned Beatty did a good creepy job.
I should have liked it more. Can't put my finger on it.
When I can't really decide I'll put a number on it: 7/10

Yep, this one was an average episode and out of the 3 Pat Hingle Ormsbee episodes this one is my least favorite. Funny how Doc Bergman was in awe of Ormsbee, like he was some sports or film celebrity.Man on Fire
HIGGY BABY!![]()
Wifey and I were discussing his accent. She thought he still sounded like Higgins. I didn't think much.
He is (was) such a good actor.
The return of Grant Ormsbee. How he got under McGarrett's skin is great. Great fun that annoying character.
Anyways, was an okay episode. Nothing to write home about.
Hijacking nuclear materials and making weapons was a good concept.
I think they would have linked the pregnant girl with radiation poisoning to the lab a bit quicker.
Also, do you know what Ormsbee was yelling at the end? I could not make it out even rewinding. McGarrett's grin was great.

Very last scene. Last ten seconds. Ormsbee is yelling something while being taken away in handcuffs.IvanTheTerrible wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 5:54 pm
As for Ormsbee yelling at the end are you talking about that underground facility, where they're rolling those barrels/canisters?If I recall I think he yells something about not allowing them to "cluster". It's actually one of the most unintentionally hilarious scenes in the whole series!

McGarrett and company running around and trying to catch/keep separate those rolling barrels! Like something out of the Three Stooges! Really silly scene and I'm 99.9% sure is not based on any reality.
Had to whip out my copy of the DVD and turn on the subtitles because I can't make out what he says either.T.Q. wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 7:16 pmVery last scene. Last ten seconds. Ormsbee is yelling something while being taken away in handcuffs.IvanTheTerrible wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 5:54 pm

McGarrett has a grin on his face and says "Good".
Couldn't make it out.
Too bad about Beatty.![]()
So it wasn't only my ageing ears. "GOOD".IvanTheTerrible wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 5:39 pm

"You wait, McGarrett, until Admiral Gaines hears about this". Then the rest of it the captions say "Ormsbee shouting indistinctly".Then McG says "Good!"
Yep, this is a really good one. I would say it's my favorite episode so far into the season. Just outside of my top 5 or 6 for the season. Cliff Gorman as the assassin Robert Houston killing that woman that he got close to was pretty cold-blooded. She was a really sweet soul and was really falling for him. Very sad.T.Q. wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 1:50 pm Tour De Force, Killer Aboard
Pretty decent episode.
Dead people everywhere and an assassin climbing buildings and getting blown away. What's not to like?![]()
Officer Welles resurfaces. Makes some foolish decisions but I like her.
Speaking of recurring cast. I just realized Frank is gone (Douglas Mossman). First Kono, then Ben, now Frank. Keep liking these guys and they disappear.![]()
The brief scenes from Maui were cool. The Sheraton Maui was my old stomping ground as a kid. End of Ka'anapali beach down from family timeshare. Used to hang down there. I lived on Keka’a point (Black Rock).

Yes, another very enjoyable episode! About on par with the previous one. Kevin McCarthy was indeed very good as "HRH" in this one. The scene between him and McGarrett in the office was a highlight! One of the best guest stars of the season. But I still have a slight preference for him in the very first episode "Full Fathom Five" where his Victor Reese swindler/murderer character was in equal measure charming and deadly. He loved to recite poetry in that one as he and his wife sunk dead widows inside barrels into the ocean depths. Creepy! The very first Five-O villain, outside of Wo Fat in the pilot. But yeah, I liked everything about this episode, including how Elaine Giftos got that boy to get McGarrett's autograph.T.Q. wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 3:13 pm The Last of the Great Paperhangers yesterday.
Good episode. Enjoyed.
Back to the semi-light-hearted battle of wits.
Kevin McCarthy is great as Hunter R. Hickey.
I really enjoyed the look on McGarrett's face when he went to his office. Like a teacher listening to a student trying to scam them with some story why their homework wasn't done.
Presenting as the Military at the bank was cool.
And double crossing the third wheel was good. Enjoyed how they got busted at the airport.

Hi TQ,
Since you grew up there, do you have any stories of how the Hawaii 5-0 cast interacted with the locals?
Yeah.IvanTheTerrible wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 6:38 pm
You just noticed that Frank (Mossman) is gone?He was gone for all of season 8 too!

Didn't realize they filmed on Maui. They preferred not to leave O'ahu. Sometimes they would say it's another island but you could see that it's still O'ahu.
