Yep, it's a good 'un. The change in scenery to the Big Island and that vast ranch is almost a character in its own right, as Garwood mentioned. Also that Richard Shores score with a "western" theme (touches of Ennio Morricone) is very atmospheric: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmimYRByxuY. Bit slow moving but good episode. Little predictable.
Wow. Lotsa good recognizable faces.
Bruce Boxleitner (didn't recognize him at first)
Perry King (Pretty good)
Leslie Nielsen (Great job).
I'm trying not to read the discussion you guys (who've seen the series a million times already) are having before I get there.![]()
Change to Big Island was refreshing.
The Ranching reminded me of some Magnum Hawai'i episodes.
I could have sworn Capt. Ohano was Jack Soo. I was doing bench presses and only heard the voice. Holy Mackerel. Same voice. Then rewound and stared at him for a few. Looked like him a bit but no. Soo is so unique.
Scene at the end turning the gun on his son was excellent. Will he or won't he.
Solid episode.

Leslie Nielsen as the powerful and unflinching patriarch was very good! So were Perry King and Bruce Boxleitner as his sons. Also the local stock actors like Gerald Waialae and pretty Elissa were good, as always. I'll have to watch it again to listen for Jack Soo's voice. It's been a while.
Definitely stay away from here and don't read anything until you've seen the episodes.

Oh, and here's a great Richard Shores piece heard in "3,000 Crooked Miles from Honolulu", "Air Cargo -- Dial for Murder", and most recently in "Steal Now -- Pay Later": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WikeTiCEC4k
