One Big Happy Family
Pretty interesting episode with one creepy family.
Rednecks in Paradise?
Good ending in McGarrett's office.
Great line:
"It don't count because they wasn't kin".
Seriously deranged.
P.S. I love the The Royal Hawaiian hotel. Always wanted to stay there going through (3 days) to Maui but wifey and I just think it's a waste of money because it's just so expensive now.
Plus we're not into the hoity-toity stuff. We're kinda rednecks ourselves (minus the 'next time lets find a whites only restaurant').
Wait. Did I just admit I'm like this family?
That's 3 superb episodes out of the first 4. Told you season 6 opens with a bang!
This one is a big fan favorite. For good reason. It's also one of the most disturbing. A family of killers who kill for pennies and few dollar bills. The guest cast is outstanding - Barbara Baxley as the matriarch of the family who seems to be calling the shots, Slim Pickens (he's always a hoot!) as daddy, and Bo Hopkins as the son with his slutty wife Rosalie (played by Robyn Millan). Morton Stevens provides a score with a Southern twang to it, with some creepy fiddles and violins. Like you said, this has some fantastic dialogue. The ending in McGarrett's office with Barbara Baxley explaining why they did what they did (
"it don't count if they's strangers") is memorable and shocking, leaving McGarrett completely speechless. I also love her racist remarks like when she sees a white and an Oriental dining together.
"She's eatin' with an Oriental. Got no shame t'all".
Oh yeah, I love how the episode opens with the Royal Hawaiian ("the Pink Palace") and the priceless reaction of the front-desk guy (Bill Bigelow) to this white trash family. He's thinking man are they in the wrong place!!

I was always fascinated by this place too, which is why I strolled through it last time I was on Oahu in 2018. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency. It has pink decorum and carpeting throughout and at night the trees outside are lit by pink projectors. Really cool!
