Doesn't work for me though.
Once you click the link, there should be a download button at the top right, once you've saved it locally you can then open 'Magnum P.I. Maui Mystery.html' in your web browser and then it should work.
Okay, works for me.

I'm going to read it tomorrow.

Looks cool.

Something new.

Thanks.

Sorry for the skepticism. :magnum:

The author actually does a pretty good job at the dialogue. I can easily see it as dialogue from the show. (I've only skimmed the first few pages, however.

"I'm not flying you to Maui,” T.C. had shouted at him. "You still haven't paid me for the gas on that wild goose chase to Kauai last month. Not to mention my time, Thomas.”
"But, T.C., I don't have the money to fly to Maui"
"That's what you get for not getting money up front from your clients, man. You are the worst businessman I ever saw. No, I take that back.”
“Aw, thanks, T.C., but--”
"Naw, I'm the worst! I let you con me into flying you all over. I get shot at, I get hassled, I get stiffed for the gas. Naw, I'm the worst! At least in ’Nam I got paid for getting shot at and didn't have to buy my own gas and the guys I rescued were glad to see me!"
"How fiendishly deceptive of you Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent."

I too was struck by how well the author captured the characters voices! You can almost hear Magnum, Higgins, TC and Rick.

No worries!

So here's some photos of the covers, front and back:-

and here's some pictures of the book, as an object:-

My copy has price sticker damage on the front

If anyone's interested, it measures 13cm by 19cm

Here's an example of the page layout:-

Incidentally, my copy has some pretty bad printing errors on 2 of the pages:-

Here's the publishing/edition information:-

While I bought this through the UK Abebooks site in 2014, it turns out the seller was in Massachusetts. I kind of suspect there never was a UK edition of this book.

I currently have no idea how to do that, but I could look into it! :)

That was pretty cool. The first choice you get is "Neola defends herself on page 10. Neola disappears on page 12." I wanted a third option, "Use your investigative skills to find out what happened to the ribs Neola mentioned and see what the beer situation is on Page 13."

Thanks so much for all the photos and great information about this obscure piece of memorabilia.

I still haven't read it. I feel like a paper copy would make for some good cottage reading. Should just fire up the laser printer and get it done.

How did you make the html version? Scan with character recognition? I see it could use a little copy editing. Still, fantastic.

Are you actually A Magnum fan Stirzy - or just a fan of obscure books??

I'm definitely a Magnum Fan!

Maui Mystery is part of my little Magnum book collection.

I just scanned the pages using google drive on my phone, once that's done you can 'open as a google doc' and it 'OCR's it.
I tried to correct any mistakes as I went along, but I've missed many.

Technology is amazing these days.

What else is in the collection? Other than Larry’s book, of course!

I'd love to check this out, but "dark mode" (light font on black background) is very difficult for me to read; can you produce a version that's black text on white (or nearly white) background? I was unsuccessful at editing the CSS to change the colors.

I have the Bowdler Novel, the Maui Mystery Gamebook, and 2 UK annuals. I don't have a physical copy of 'Aloha, Magnum', but I have read it on Kindle

Isn’t there a section on the site that compiles all the books? I was looking for it yesterday but couldn’t find it. I was sure JJ created such a page. I’d like to know more about the UK Annuals.

Here's the only info on the annuals on the site:-
http://magnum-mania.com/Pics/UK_Annual_1982.html

Plus some scans from the 'Look-In' Magnum .P.I. comic. Look-in (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Look-in) was a kids weekly magazine that had articles and comics based on 'stuff' that was on the 'ITV' network in the UK
http://magnum-mania.com/Pics/Look-in_Comic_Strip_1.html

This blog has quite a few scans from the annuals that gives you a good idea of their content

Thanks very much for this info. I think we really need to get all of these vintage publications properly scanned and hosted on the site. That's one of the few things that are missing!
