SL,
I doubt it! I still haven't had time to read the entire article, but I think it will only enchant you more. From what I've seen, it is about the most detailed recent information available on TS.
I'm about to cut the pages out of the magazine so I can get a good view of them. Maybe we can sacrifice color pictures for the text. Then I can scan the pictures separately. Still trying to figure out the best way to do it. I promise to have something viewable by Christmas!
Merry Christmas! The CA article in full - somehow, someway.

Golf,
I have the magazine in question also, and enjoyed the article immensely. I thought about posting it on this site, but I don't know the legal implications about copyrighted (?) articles from current publications. (My sister is a lawyer....I'm always vigilant! LOL She doesn't know either....she practices real estate law.) Anyway, something to think about!

I also found the magazine sitting on a coffe table desk of an FBO at Midway Airpot about 5 weeks ago. Seeing Tom on the cover I quickly picked it up and began reading. I didn't have time to get thru the entire article and didn't have the guts to walk off with it but none the less found the story about Tom's early years, the Magnum pilot and Indiana Jones misshap plus the handyman story to be in a bit more detail than what was on The Biography Channels story on Selleck.
Did I read in that article or somewhere else that Jamie Fox bought the Ranch next to Tom's and they are neighbors and now competitors in Avacado Ranching.
I also watched most of the Tiger Woods Classic last weekend, includung on the Golf Channel Thursday and Friday and kept thinking to myself that I'll bet Tom's Avacado Ranch is somewhere in those Hills. I missed the TS interview and think it is great that he is one of the investors in the Club.

Perhaps this helped TS fund his portion of the country club purchase:
"LAKELAND | The Florida Department of Citrus hopes its new OJ ads will have a "magnum" impact of sales.
"Tom Selleck - perhaps most famous as the star of the long-running 1980s detective show "Magnum, P.I." - is returning to television in a more limited role as the spokesman for Florida orange juice in new 15- and 30-second spots scheduled to air in January...
"Beginning Dec. 30, both 30-second spots will run frequently on national broadcast and cable stations the first 11 weeks, she said. Then the department will reduce the frequency of those ads and use similar 15-second spots for the rest of the year.
"Selleck got $90,000 for the voice-over work and has made an oral commitment to do the same for next year's ads, Killeen said."
Full article at: http://www.theledger.com/article/200712 ... 1/BUSINESS
Of course, this is in addition to his ongoing "Go RVing" spots:
"RESTON, Va. – The fourth phase of the recreation vehicle (RV) industry’s high-profile Go RVing national advertising campaign launched February 2006 with new television, print and online creative.
"The “What Will You Discover? Go RVing” campaign evokes the varied experiences RV buyers can enjoy. Actor Tom Selleck was selected to voice the three-year campaign’s TV spots for a second time."
Not bad when you consider that he's been quoted as saying “My voice isn’t a 6 ft 4 in voice. I was once told that with my voice, I should give up acting.”

Just saw the orange juice commercial tonight (about a half hour ago)!! I was sitting here, typing forum posts here on my laptop as we sit in front of the fire in our fireplace, and Larry said, "Tom Selleck is doing orange juice commercials?" And I looked up at the TV, and, sure enough, there was TS' voice doing the OJ commercial.
And I don't even remember for what company's OJ it was! I later asked Larry and he said it was just "Florida orange juice, those co-op advertisements."
Anyone else seen/heard it?

I can't seem to figure out how to get a link to just the video, but on tvguide.com, there's a video about "best return to tv" in 2007, and TS is one of the top ten. Won't spoil the fun and tell you where he landed, but if you go to his page at:
http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/tom-selleck/177210
it should be the featured "Latest Video" and you can see for yourself!

Found another caricature of our hero tonight. Someone sent me an email with a slideshow attached of a whole bunch of movie star caricatures. Of course, TS is pretty easy to do a caricature of. But in case any of you hadn't seen this one (and may want to use it as an avatar), here ya go:

Good call, Steve!Steve wrote:The NFL Channel showed a documentary on Brett Favre, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning Friday night. The narrator was none other than Tom Selleck. The man is certainly not sitting around as he closes in on 63 years old.....

(BTW, great name! Although I may be a little biased)

I was watching that last week and I thought it was TS. He was also doing the pregame show before the Pats/Chargers game.
Rock on TS! Have to do something to offset the loss of the avacados.
TS seems to be pretty fiscally responsible, so I would assume he's doing this to pad his nest egg (and finance Hannah's hore shows), and not because he NEEDS to.
The thought of TS on something like some celeb reality show really depresses me, so kudos to him for going into other avenues, while not tarnishing his image.
He REALLY has a great VO voice. Familiar, comforting, yet, commanding.
