The Life of Robin Masters

#1 Post by KENJI »

It would be great to hear what everyone thinks happened to Robin after the show ended.....Did he die penniless, kidnapped, murdered, still alive or???? Did his brother or even his nephew RJ Masters inherit his fortune or was there anything to inherit except debts? Maybe Higgins inherits Robin's Nest. It would be great to know more about his family....we know of RJ Masters therefore he had at least one brother. Did he ever marry? I think we have another angle on a Magnum reboot  .....a prequel to Higgins and Thomas coming on the scene simply called Robin's Nest. This way we get to enjoy something about the show without finding replacements for Tom Selleck and John Hillerman etc.....which can never be done! We have never seen Robin's face and know very little about his private life so anything is possible there without spoiling what we all hold dear to our hearts.....it's another chapter separate to MPI. I know we could argue that not knowing his identity is another important part of the show that keeps us tuned in so maybe we keep him as a mystery man. Look forward to hearing other's ideas and theories into Robin.

Here are a few threads that have already been started about Robin.

I heard he lost everything in a craps game with Buzz Benoit. Never let Eddie Deezen blow on your dice for luck. At his lowest point he was living with his sister, Vera, in Boston. He got kicked out by her chubby husband for drinking his last beer, but it was a blessing in disguise as he soon got a new job as a doorman in a NY apartment building (under an assumed name, of course.)

Higgins grew tired of writing "tawdry pulp novels" and decided to focus solely on his memoirs (five volumes so far). This, of course, was most distressing to Robin. Desperately in need of a revenue stream to fund his lavish lifestyle, Robin had his old friend Clive Cussler ghost write a best seller for him (Clive owed him a big favor). But the three following books were mercilessly scorned by the press (two written by unproven hacks, the third written by Robin himself). Sales plummeted. After Scribner let him go it was all downhill from there. The money dried up. The houses foreclosed. The cars and planes were auctioned off. The women left. When the Feds came after him for unpaid back taxes, he fled to Barbados and lived the life of a destitute beachcomber. That's what I heard, anyway. ;)
Higgins: It's not a scratch! It's a bloody gouge!

I'd like to think that Robin continued to operate as he always had. Hawaii was just one of a number of homes he had and he rarely was in Hawaii so he probably wasn't too worried that Magnum finally left the guest house. He, likely, hired another security expert and went about his buisness of writing books and flying all over the world.
