Bruce Cervi was a writer of several MPI episodes during the last few seasons, including "Death and Taxes", "Forty", "Way of the Stalking Horse" and "Summer School". He also had a hand in writing "Limbo".

I've traded correspondence with him and thought you might like what he says. He called the series "a real dream come true" for him. He complimented "a great cast, great crew, and the freedom to take some creative chances." And of course, he loved being in Hawaii.

G'day burroughsmvp.

I only just discovered that Bruce Cervi wrote episodes for Magnum P.I. (my brother in law... also a Cervi, pointed this out to me). Unfortunately not related!

I enjoyed reading your post!

Thank you for sharing. Those are some of my favorite episodes! It does indeed sound like a dream job and I'm glad he has such fond memories of it.

There was a different tone in several of the episodes that he wrote. Darker. I've often wondered what the show would have been like if they had changed to a more serious tone in the last couple of seasons. I mean, fully embraced it instead of just the occasional episode.

I don't have a problem with he lighter episodes, it's just that they were much better at writing them in the earlier years than in the later ones imo.

Personally, I would have loved to see a few more episodes like "Death and Taxes" "Stalking Horse" and "Forty."
