Got any pics/vids/stories from the experience you care to share?

Always enjoy seeing/hearing about those lucky enough to get to visit.

Either way, glad to see new/more people joining the site. I haven't been here all that long myself, but I was welcomed by those that came before me, and I like to extend the same courtesy to those I see that come after.

J.J. has done/does a fantastic job of creating/maintaining the best MPI site on the net, and the people here are some of the best I've encountered on any forum I frequent.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of page 36!
The pic of the sword room fits very nicely with the Vegas info......the bi-fold door is on the correct side of the wall in both scenes and where the swords are located would be the location of the fireplace on the other side of the wall. To add to it....the pic of the lady coming out of from a doorway matches it too. The fireplace would be on her left (just outside of the frame) and the French doors behind her would be the ones located on the very end of the beach wing of the house, nearest to the gate to the tidal pool. Do you think the flared out section in that end room which is on the courtyard side would be the bathroom? It would be the right size for one. What Rick said about the other room across the courtyard being a trunk room makes total sense....I wonder if it is just a garden shed now? I haven't been fortunate enough to enjoy your model to it's fullest (computer is not the greatest), but I've seen many still pics of your model that members have posted.....when this computer packs it in I'll really get to enjoy a thorough walkabout. I must say what I've seen so far....brilliant work!!!

I have been visiting this site for years, but just registered. Magnum is my favorite show of all time, have all of the dvds. I've been to Hawaii a few times and have been in the tidal pool, and peaked into the gate at the estate. I have gotten my wife to agree that we can buy the estate, when we hit the powerball. Anyway, I have enjoyed reading everyones enthusiastic responses to the house going on the market. I truly hope that a fan is able to purchase it. Aloha, Mac

Hi Sam,

I had already subtracted the $15.75million list price off the $68million for $52.25million. It would be nice to get the place for cheaper, but if $68 million was in my hands I would take one for the team and pay full price to make sure it was saved and didn't get in the hands of a developer. There is plenty of money left over. You only live once and you can't take it with you, so you might as well enjoy your time in paradise!

I think that's exactly what it is. The tax records list two half baths on the first floor. Based on the age of the home, I would expect one of the two half baths would be in the service wing near the driveway, and the other to be near the public rooms which is where that space is. Also, if you pay close attention in any structure, the larger windows and doors lead to public and private rooms, while smaller windows open to service/utility spaces. So in this case there are two vent windows opening to this possible half bath space. The trunk room is another example. It has the three vent windows facing forward and a small window facing into the courtyard. The garage has these kinds of vents as does the kitchen in the service wing at the rear.

It's an interesting design, Pahonu. The entrance from the driveway is typically called a zaguan in Spanish architecture. It leads, not to the entry hall, but to a courtyard that the house is then entered from. In this case it first leads past two doors, left and right. Left is the trunk room and right (I believe) leads to the service wing with the various kitchen rooms, such as butler's pantry, storage pantry, staff dining room, staff bathroom, and the kitchen itself. By the way, there is an H5O episode that shows the actual kitchen briefly. It took me a long time to figure out how it fit in, but it is shown in the model. It has a couple of those vent windows looking into the courtyard behind the home. I hope you get to see the model soon. I can send you the most recent update, including the living room shown in the Vegas episode.

Speaking of vents........I know there is a basement to this place with what appears to be two small well windows out back. I wonder if that is it for the basement. I picture it being dark and really musty down there....great for Robin's wine cellar though. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the zaguan info which is very interesting! The design works very well due to the warm climate, allowing for plenty of outdoor living. The covered hall or walkway from the front door serves as access to the indoor rooms and the outdoor room (the courtyard) where we have seen a breakfast or two being served. I love it, but I still wish there was a interior main hallway (entry hall) like we know in the show. I think I know the kitchen pic you mentioned from HFO. It does get complicated piecing it together when you are in the dark for some of the square footage. Lets hope we get to see inside really soon via possible listing pics! It might support our theories or really surprise us. This computer still has a heartbeat, but when it finally flatlines I'll be calling!

Wow, watching those Vega$ episodes (albeit in poor quality) illustrates just how beautiful the estate was in it's heyday! Only a year before launch of Magnum and look at it.

Buildings look great, lawns and gardens are magnificent. I reckon to get it back to that state you'd be looking at minimum $1M and a year to complete all the works and rehabilitate the grounds.

Just watched it aswell, and it was great to see so much of the estate. Both indoors and outside, and yeah it looked fantastic.

It seems like when Magnum P.I was over in 1988 Eve stopped taking care of that place. Not cheap of course, and no more money coming in from production. Just wish that the buyer keeps it like it is, and just renovate it.
It was fun seeing TCs chopper aswell in that episode.

What always confused me - I believe Eve is relatively well off. Racking my brain but can't remember off hand, she inherited quite a bit from a relative didn't she?

That being the case, it always perplexed me she let the estate get into the poor condition it's in.

Something else to consider, Eve should be about 74 at this point. I don't believe she's been married so she may have no heirs or help. No matter how much money one has, as we get older things can get overwhelming in regular life, not to mention the care taking of a piece of property like that.

I believe she was married,that is the Anderson part,but don't know if she had kids.
