A game called "Roller Coaster Tycoon 2". Buildings and structures are created from smaller objects like blocks, walls, roofs, etc.

Hey James,

I just found this thread of your model. It looks really cool! I am envious of all the vegitation you have in it. I know you had other limitations with materials, etc..., but foliage has been the biggest pain in my Sketchup model. I know mine is very accurate with the property tax sketches as a guide, but without all the plantings, my model just doesn't look as real as yours.

I thought there are third-party designers that make foliage, trees, etc for sketchup, no?

Thanks Pahonu, glad you like it. It was a lot of fun to build!

The Google Sketchup 3D Warehouse seems to have quite a bit of foliage for download. Do they not work with the free version of Sketchup, or something?

Thanks James and Styles,

I tried using them last fall. I had all kinds of problems and gave up. I must have missed the information about textures and edge styles that's on there now (or it's been added). I'm excited to try again, but I'm going to be gone most of the next two weeks. I'll keep you posted.

Can't wait to see what you come up with. It's already so awesome to cruise around.

Afterward, you can move on to the tidal pool - drop some sharks and a surf ski in there. Then start working your way down to coast to Waikiki!

I finally started adding some plantings to the model (and one other surprise). I'm very encouraged by the look even though it is still quite sparse. Even with the existing plant models, it still takes alot of time to manipulate each plant's height, width, lean, etc... or they would look unnatural like soldiers all in a line. I find myself pouring over pictures I have seen dozens of times in modeling the house, but really noticing the plants for the first time. Boy is there alot of foliage on that estate!

I sent James an updated version if anyone wants to see it or comment.

Hi James!
I would love to see Pahonu's updated version, especially with the plants installed!

No problem guys, as soon as I have time to look at it and upload it. I'm thinking by Tuesday at the latest.

Thanks again Pahonu! Can't wait to check it out! :)
