I have been thinking about this one and I think I have finally got it.
Is it Black on White?
At first I thought he meant the dogs when speaking of the lads, but I don't think he is.

You've got it, Sophia!! When he's telling about sending the lads on to Berebi after he was wounded in their skirmish with the Mau Maus. Is that what you thought, too, Doc?

nah, I'm just terrible at coming up with the quotes. Half of the fun is guessing... then seeing if I'm right or not. I like seeing what people come up with and whether or not I can get it

BTW, why is it "Her name"? Every time I tell somebody about some misbehaving (right word?) of my computer and call him (the comp) "him" I am told it is "It" not "Him" , so why are ships called "She"??
