Hillerman's former Honolulu penthouse up for sale

The real estate agent has this to say about the property:
This top-floor penthouse was the home of John Hillerman when he was working
on the Magnum P.I. series. It is the Waikiki pied-a-terre he used for
entertaining guests and friends.

Mr. Hillerman had this condo remodeled at a rumored expense of $1,000,000 at
the time.

It is a 4 bedroom 3 bath, 2,577 square foot penthouse. The covered lanai is
over 800sf.

This interesting home is both playful and elegant. It does not look like
your average "cookie-cutter" luxury condo in Honolulu. Every main room exits
to the covered lanai creating a relaxing environment for guests. This
penthouse has a commanding view. Punchbowl, Golf Course, Diamond Head, Ocean
and City Lights are all available.

Some of the improvements the Mr. Hillerman made that still remain today are:

1. The rich impeccable Koa Wood office cabinetry.
2. A modern style kitchen with custom gumwood cabinets.
3. Stained glass ceilings in the kitchen and dining room.
4. Windows framed in Koa creating a "picture frame" of the highlighted
views.
5. Coffered wood ceilings and built-in bookcases.
6. 3 Baths each with custom tile colors, matching wallpaper, and
coordinating fixtures.
7. A jetted hot tub and steam shower in the primary bathroom.
8. An automatic beverage dispenser at the wet bar.

The real beauty of this home is the "flow" of the home. The covered lanai
can be accessed from the dining room, living room, primary bedroom and guest
bedrooms. Open the sliding glass doors and the tropical breeze truly brings
the Aloha inside.

The living room is generous. The current owner has a grand piano, pool
table, seating areas and large flat screen television in this room, and it
still feels open and comfortable.

The kitchen/dining area are also adaptable. Guests can help themselves to
pupus and cocktails at the warming station and beverage dispenser. If the
host prefers a more formal approach, professional caterers, bartenders or
chefs would feel at home working in that space.

This penthouse truly exemplifies elegance, "Hawaiian Style". And isn't that
what life is all about on a tropical island, in the middle of the sea?

Oh, it is offered at $1,699,000. Fee Simple.

James,
Nice find. They list the unit as #PH-3805.I looked at the pics and the virtual tour and it appears to be one level. When I saw the article you posted in the "Print Media" section it shows a second level. So I'm wondering if Hillerman also owned unit #PH-3705 and they were converted back to two separate units.
