308 GTS sighting in Arkansas!

#1 Post by wwmd »

I didn't take this picture, but I've seen this car driving down the street at least twice since I've lived here in Fayetteville.

It always stops me in my tracks. :D

My last encounter with the 308 was yesterday while I was walking to a restaurant for dinner. There were two gentlemen riding in it (probably going off to solve a case somewhere ). I couldn't help waving and shouting out "Hi, guys!"

Made my day.

Wow, nice pic! I live about an 8 minute drive from an exclusive resort that celebrities frequent and I once saw Dennis Rodman in his Lamborghini Countach tooling down the street. He had very strangely colored hair. (I think it was Green or Yellow.) Just thought I'd share... :D

That is just a beautiful car . . .

There used to be one I'd see from time to time about 20 years ago driving down Metroplitan Avenue in Queens. It was a black Ferrari. It went by like this beautiful, hi-gloss shadow . . .

:D Coops :D

That picture was taken from the balcony at Hog Haus Brewery. I thought about asking them to brew me some Old Dusseldorf, but they're pretty picky about their beers.

One thing I love about the 308; it's not over the top like the Testarossa was but it's still oozes 100% pure Italian sex appeal.

Great...now I've got my engine revving again...

Anyone know how many 308's are in the US? I have seen them pretty often. Had to drop off daugther number 2's car for service in Richmond, VA last spring and a red 308 drove right right by me. Looked like the driver was going to work. My son sent a picture of a black one that he and his girlfriend saw, in Golden Gate Park, last weekend. And I just saw a black one on the freeway two weeks ago.

What seems strange is the fact that they get driven as regular cars. I think of the 308 as a weekend/special occasion car. Who can afford the oil changes and break jobs?

I want one, I want one, I want one....

Probably in other parts of the country, that would seem strange. Where I live, if you drive a brand new Mercedes, it's known as a "Newport Beach Chevy." If you want to buy a 850 square foot 1 bedroom fixer-upper condo with no garage, it'll cost about $500,000. Property values haven't fallen here, and exotic cars are a dime a dozen. Another kind of interesting thing is happening here also. People are buying (by comparison) cheap, old houses (pre-WWII) in the most run-down gang-ridden parts of the county because the lots are bigger. The purchaser bulldozes the house and builds a Mac-Daddy mansion, complete with a hot tub, lap pool and sometimes a tennis court. It is then surrounded with an 8-foot wrought iron fence and security cameras are installed all around the property. That's all well and good, but what if you get shot driving down the street to your house??? Makes no sense to me! Just thought I'd share!!! :D :D :D

SL,

Not only did I misspell the word "brake" as "break", I figured out we must live near each other! I have been tempted to stop in at the Ferrari dealer on PCH, to see if I could sit in one and grab a few pictures. :D :D

Who knew?

Is there still that place on PCH that RENTS exotic cars? I often thought it would be cool to rent one for a day... :D
P.S. My husband works part-time on one of the event boats in Newport Harbor. See link below:

SL,

Yes, the exotic car rental place is still on PCH. It's called Showcase Exotic Cars, or something like that. Renting one of their cars would be so much fun! Except for the deposit. A friend went to rent a Ferrari for her husband's birthday a few years back and the deposit on the car was several thousand dollars! I'm not kidding. She decided to rent a new Mercedes instead. Still expensive, but it didn't max out her VISA, before the birthday trip started.
