Is it just me or does Hillerman's accent on the roof carry a wee bit of Father Paddy Mcguiness before he calibrates it to Don Luis Espanol on-the-fly?
It also wasn't clear to me if it was intentional or accidental when Don Luis, as Higgins, slips back into his native accent in this scene: https://vimeo.com/641939387
If intentional, was he intending to gently mock or imitate his half brother (i.e. himself)? But why?

I like these stories with Higgins' half brothers...very entertaining. The Gunga Din story is great as Higgins is speeding through it because they are short of time and Magnum mouths the final words of the story "and he was never heard from again" showing Magnum had heard the story so many times, he could recite it himself. Awesome writing...and acting.
I can't disagree about the various plot holes already mentioned, but I did enjoy it.
While the opening flashback got the episode to an exciting start, it was a rather elaborate way to simply establish how Don Luis came to be. Narratively speaking, it really wasn't necessary, as we get that information shortly after he arrives anyway.
Jonathan sure got dirty just changing a tire. Apparently didn't even remove his jacket!
