Also, how would you like to have been cast as an extra in that scene, then trying to explain to your kids 20 years later the skin tight hot red spandex pants that prominently feature your "bits"........LOL!
Agreed. This is just egregious. Tom Selleck should have thrown his weight around to get some thicker pants on that guy.

100% correct. They did adjust the exposure a little, but it’s the same footage.

I don't remember seeing it, but for some reason I can see him touching the ring as a sort of "fraternal" gesture. Sort of like, "I'm doing this for you buddy."
I don't have this episode so I can't comment but one thing I have noticed..With or without a ring..Selleck is always rubbing his ring finger with his thumb.
It’s totally a Tom Selleck gesture, I bet it’s subconscious, he even does it in the Jesse Stone movies.

So that kind of helps establish the physical location of it, (the guesthouse), or at least what we are supposed to accept it to be, but where were these shots actually taken from?
The shots look like they were really taken from inside Pahonu, through a window on the ocean side. Of course they want us to think TM is looking at them from the guesthouse. TM looks like he was superimposed.

I think there’s an argument to be made here that this shot was still created without violating the “they never shot inside the house” theory. To me it looks like he’s looking through this door (which looks like a window because of the tight shot):

If that’s the case, doesn’t that door open up onto this space, which would make it then “outside” in the loggia?

The doors with white arrows pointing at them in the pics both open to the living room, on opposite sides. One pair faces the sea wall and the other the arched loggia. The seawall side of the living room has the window in the middle (shown) then another pair of doors. The courtyard side has another pair of doors, opening to the patio in the ell, but no middle window.

I would say they were definitely filming from inside the house. Selleck and the crew are inside but the shot is looking out.

Only 1 or 2 mentions of the scene where Magnum cries tears to Higgins in the study?! That scene was so touching. Do we see Thomas cry in any other episodes?

On the MM webpage for this episode, the link for Carol Channing actually goes to Cameron Mitchell's IMDB page!

Aside from "Memories are Forever" there's also the very sad and touching scene where Magnum stands over the burnt corpse of Mac in "Did You See the Sunrise?" in the hospital. I know he was misty-eyed there. I also recall him shedding a tear at the end of "On Face Value" when Talia Balsam leaves the estate. I seem to remember other moments when he got misty-eyed. I don't think it was such a rarity.

I remember 3 other episodes where he cries, in Déjà Vu (p1) in the scene before Jeffrey St. Clair's funeral. If I remember correctly he also cries at the end of Going Home for his half-brother Joey at the Vietnam War Memorial, then twice in Unfinished Business, first in the scene where he runs on the beach and falls to the ground, then at the end when he decides not to kill Quang Ki. I don't remember other times where he cried, if anyone remembers other episodes where Magnum cries, please reply to me. I think I'll do a theard about it
