The ship has sailed on any revival of Magnum. That goes for movies and a TV series. There just isn't a big enough, interested enough 18-34 year old male demographic that could make a new film profitable enough after 25 years since the end of the show. However, a revival could be achieved with a fan film. Star Trek has several of these that are made and distributed by the diehard fan base. In fact, it seems that it's mostly sci-fi that inspires these amateur flicks, but hey, it doesn't have to be that way!
Frankly, I'm surprised that someone hasn't tried this already. I can see it now: A yearly reunion of Magnum Mania super fans gathering in Hawaii every year to shoot scenes that eventually make it into a yearly youtube distribution organized by acts. In a few years, you have a real film on your hands divided into pt 1, pt 2, pt 3, etc. Amateur for sure, but out there.
Who knows, maybe the pros will see the possibilities and make a real movie or web series or Netflix or Amazon Prime original. Yeah, Selleck won't be in it, but you have to work with what you got. Otherwise, freeze MPI in resin and put him in a museum.
Only movie of MPI will be a fan film
