Guess season 12 was 1980?
Season 12 was 1979-1980. So, last part of the season was “technically” 80s.

Yep, you're jumping ahead. :)

Season 11 was 1978-1979. "The Skyline Killer" aired in 1979.

Season 12 was 1979-1980. Only 8 episodes aired in 1980.

Tonight MeTV Plus ran the Hawaii Five-0 episode "You Have to Kill to Get Rich" (1972) with William Shatner. Not that great an episode but once again "Robins Nest" appeared.

I have a question, perhaps it has already been addressed here but I have avoided reading this thread from it's start as I want to once again see all the episodes
(first time in many decades) before I read all your informative posts from the get go.
Anyway, does anyone know how many times Robins Nest appears on Hawaii 5-0 and the names of those episodes? Did it ever appear in the remake?
Why was it such a popular location site, did the owner have a relationship with "Hollywood"?

I am also watching the California lensed Hawaiian Eye, which used a lot of Hawaii location footage, such as Wo Fat's chop suey joint.
I have been keeping an eye out for Robins Nest and other 'future' Magnum locations but no dice so far.

The Cowardly Lion's (Bert Lahr) speech on courage from the Wizard of Oz(1939):

Courage!
What makes a King out of a slave? Courage!
What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage!
What makes the elephant charge his tusk, in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk?
What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage!
What makes the Sphinx the Seventh Wonder? Courage!
What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage!
What makes the Hottentot so hot?
What puts the ape in ape-ricot?
What have they got that I ain't got?
Scarecrow: Courage!
Lion: You can say that again!

I don’t know the specific number of times that the mansion used as the Robin Master’s estate in “Magnum”, was seen previously on “5-0”...but there are several episodes at different times where it’s seen. And “Magnum” basically took over the production facilities of “5-0”, the same year it went off.

As for Hawaiian Eye, although a couple outside/exterior shots used were from Hawaii to make it more realistic...almost all filming was done in Hollywood, on the Warner Bros. studio lot. I have “Eye” too, and I don’t believe the Robin Master’s estate was ever used.

I had in my head the last two seasons were '80 and '81 for some reason.

It's "You Don't Have to Kill to Get Rich, But it Helps". It's not a bad blackmail episode, with some serious poolside hotties. :D Shatner hams it up as per his usual. There's a story going around why Lord and Shatner don't have any scenes together (until the very end) when McGarrett books him. Apparently there was some ill will from Lord towards Shatner for being passed up for the STAR TREK gig. If you ask me it worked out better for Lord in the end. He got a show that ran 12 seasons (compared to a measly 3) and one that was a better fit for his caliber of acting. Can you imagine Lord grappling with aliens and monsters wearing those tight-fitting pajamas??? Good grief!! :?

As for Robin's Nest filming on Five-O... off the top of my head...

Forty Feet High and It Kills! - season 2
Sweet Terror - season 2
The Second Shot - season 3
The Gunrunner - season 3
Cloth of Gold - season 4
While You're At It, Bring in the Moon - season 4
You Don't Have to Kill to Get Rich, But it Helps - season 5
Death's Name is SAM - season 8
A Stranger in His Grave - season 10 (with guest star John Hillerman's character actually living at the place!!)
The Case Against Phillip Christie - season 11
Woe to Wo Fat - season 12 (series finale)

Not sure if I missed any others.

As for why they filmed at this particular property so many times I have no idea. Or whether any productions were filmed there prior to Five-O. I'm sure Pahonu might know. He's the Anderson Estate guru around here. :D It's possible that someone knew about this property on the film crew and got permission to film "Forty Feet High" there and then they liked the location so much that they decided to film more episodes there, with the owners' permission of course. So by the time MPI came around this place was well-known by the local film crews.

You probably forgot and thought Five-O started its run in 1970. Like MPI did in 1980. So then the final 2 seasons would have been '80 and '81.

The Year of the Horse

Big glowing reviews for this one.

I don’t get it. I found it boring and hard to follow.

Sometimes I judge an episode by whether I care what happens to the characters. I didn’t.

Cool locations. Enjoyed that.

Just thought it was ZZZ.

Victoria Principle was a babe. Wow. Not sure I have ever seen her that young.

MPI: Manu Tupou, Beau Vanden Ecker, Tommy Fujiwara,

We're really on a roll here, aren't we? Are you my long-lost brother by any chance?? I'm almost tempted to forgive you for that earlier "No Bottles, No Cans, No People..." debacle. :)

We've been pretty much in lockstep these last 2 seasons. I agree that this one is a snoozer. I don't like it one bit. Never did. Which is surprising because like the season 9 opener "Nine Dragons" (where they actually went to Hong Kong to film) here they traveled to Singapore! You'd expect a more exciting episode. Heck, there's even a cool stunt on top of a cable car (no doubt inspired by the cable car stunt this same year in the Bond flick MOONRAKER - between Bond and Jaws) but even that fails to lift this episode out of the doldrums. When all is said and done all I can remember is the lovely Victoria Principal, who has got to be the #1 babe on the show! She truly does look amazing! The rest of the story with the drug smuggling, revenge, being MIA, and whatnot is just really dull. Big names here too like Barry Bostwick and George Lazenby (one-time James Bond) but they don't do anything for me. Lousy way to end the season and lousy exit for Jimmy MacArthur. Does this one really have glowing reviews? Like I said, "The Skyline Killer" should have been the finale. Not just the season finale but the series finale.

Was surprised to see Al Eben pop up as Doc Bergman at the start. He's been absent since season 9, along with Che Fong (Harry Endo) and D.A. John Manicote (Glenn Cannon).

Alright, time for a rundown of season 11... :D

So...what exactly was this list? Some of these plots sound pretty ridiculous & humorous, there never was a planned 13th season (as I’ve read that even 12 wasn’t originally planned on), and some of the main characters had already left the show and/or been killed off. Was this a spoof idea as a joke? Just curious.
