Angel in Blue

Not bad.

Mel from Mel's Diner makes another appearance.

Wasn't in love with the lady cop however I liked the story that Kimo wasn't really one of the bad guys per se. Just trapped.

Too bad he bought it.

Have said before, McGarrett swooping in via chopper is getting old.

It's weird inserting Douglas Mossman into the show as a different character after playing Frank for so many.

Mr. Mike is very harsh on some of these episodes. I see them differently. Maybe lower rating but I rarely see a complete BOMB. I thought it was alright.

MPI: Ernest Chan, Keokeokalae Hughes, Douglas Mossman
Knocking my rubber chicken or my sloppy habits is within the rules, but you're attacking my character. I would like to think you don't mean that.

Yep, I like this one too. In fact one of the better episodes of the season for me. I never understood either why Mr. Mike hates this one. Doesn't he give this one a BOMB rating? I think it's Carol Lynley's performance. But I personally think she's fine. I really don't have any problems with this episode. It's a good solid undercover episode. Very good Morton Stevens score (reused from "Up the Rebels") during the scene towards the end when the drug shipment is arriving by boat.

Now, if there was an episode that deserved the BOMB rating it was "Tread the King's Shadow" about the Hawaiian kid running away with the haole girl. :x

When Does a War End?

This one was a dud.

Was a good moment when Muromoto's secretary was revealed as an accomplice.

Other than that: ZZZ

McGarrett lecturing about hate and world peace was lame.

What!!! McG’s lecture was the best part of the episode!!!

Nah, I recall this as a snoozer too and I don’t even remember that scene.

Invitation to Murder

Good episode. Enjoyed it.

Good old fashioned Agatha Christie type whodunnit.

Clever jumping around and the viewer suspecting bunch of different people.

In the end it was a surprise. Ended really abruptly though. Was kinda strange.

I like it.

MPI: None that I saw? That would be a first.

Frozen Assets

Pretty cool episode. Fun.

Miss Shand the "Murder She Wrote" type author trying to solve a mystery.

Not an old movie buff but thought Mildred Natwick did a fine job.

The back-in-forth with the diagnoses was good. Trying to "trick her" (since they thought she was legit) into thinking she had cancer and should go through with the cryogenics.

Danno and Duke shouldn't have fallen for the trick.

Was cool the "resurrected" guy quoted a 2 year old book when supposedly frozen 6 years. BUSTED.

PPI: Mildred Natwick (Limited Engagement), Nobu McCarthy (Tigers Fan), Tommy Fujiwara, Jimmy Borges, Kwan Hi Lim, Winston Char

Sorry, been behind. Not an easy time right now for us. :(

I never saw this one as a dud although I don't like it as much as I once did. There was a time when I considered it one of the better episodes of the season. WWII, prisoner of war, old hatred/revenge - all interesting topics here. But I think the execution is a bit off. Compare to a similar season 3 premise in "The Reunion" - that one was great! This one not so much. Agreed about McG's "speechifying" at the end - kinda lame.

Also David Dukes comes across more "weird" than "psycho". Not a good performance.

Agreed. Five-O does Agatha Christie. Not bad. Alright mystery. The ending was a surprise - didn't see that coming.

Also, how about that Porsche plunging off the cliff??! Great scene!!

Agreed, fun episode! Mildred Natwick was great as Miss Shand, in her first of two appearances. She's the reason to watch this one. Love it when she keeps calling the Governor "sonny", including at the very end. :) Her busy-body sleuthing character was very similar to the one played by Helen Hayes (JMac's mom, as Danno's Aunt Clara) in the season 8 episode "Retire... in Sunny Hawaii... Forever". It's been said that Peter Lawford was drunk all through this episode. I think it shows a little in a scene or two (when he's walking with Natwick) but overall he was fine. There's also a good John Cacavas score here. He's not a great composer for the show but he has a few good scores and this is one of them.

These are very entertaining movies, though there are only a handful. I’ve seen all but a couple and some are on YouTube as you linked. I couldn’t find the whole group streaming anywhere, but highly recommend them.

My Friend, The Enemy

I got very distracted during this one with a few phone calls, neighbour needed help with something. Kept pausing. Only half watched/payed attention.

First half was a bit boring. Ended up okay I guess.

If it's worth a rewatch I will go back.

That's it. Wifey is waiting with some clippers to cut my hair and I'm going to airport in 30 minutes. Just wanted to get it in.

This one was merely okay. We've seen better kidnapping stories. This one is notable for having major Bond babe Luciana Paluzzi (from THUNDERBALL) as the pesky Italian reporter/journalist. She was no longer in her prime here though. Still, she was fine in the part. Not really much else to say about this one. McG is very sympathetic to Duke after he almost gets blinded by the chemical solution in his eyes. That's a good scene. This is also the first of 4 episodes to be scored by Fred Steiner, who's best known for the iconic PERRY MASON theme!
