Man, sorry to hear about your plight.

One of the reasons I love Texas; I don't have to fly to go on vacation. Sure, we don't have a Hawaii-like getaway but we do have a lot of other interesting things to see. I didn't like flying before 911 and now I totally despise it. I can't begin to tell you how much I hate the whole flying experience now, it makes me cringe just thinking about it.

So Coops, should one of us start a "Who hates flying the most?" thread? When I say I HATE to fly, my kids translate it as "Mom is afraid to fly." which makes me hate it even more. I sit and stare at the seat in front of me for 5 or 6 hours until it's time to deplane. It is soooo boring.
Back in the day when "meals" were served in coach, it wasn't so bad. Heck, I could spend more than an hour having "dinner".

We should consider ourselves lucky that travel by jet exists and isn't too expensive. Swimming to Hawaii would be far worse! :)
Higgins: You've washed the car?! How extraordinary. Why would you do such a thing?

I hate flying, well most everything to do with it like going to the airport early, customs, sitting next to people:lol: The invention of portable DVD players seems like something I'm going to have invest in.

Speaking of Honolulu, I was looking at flights today and I saw a deal for air and 7 nights at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani for $1100 all in from Vancouver for Sept or Oct. So tempting!
Icepick - Does it ever occur to you that you are always having to bail your friend Magnum out of trouble?

I don't mind flying, but flying from the east coast I'd stay on the islands for two weeks to make it worth while. Hence, this is why it will be a while before I make it there.

Thats the best way to do it. 10 days, MINIMUM. (With 2 extra days factored in for travel).

The cheapest fare I could find was on cheaptickets.com from LAX to HNL. It was $664 round trip. About a year ago you could get the same thing for about $299. Guess I should have gone last year! :D Oh well, hindsight is 20/20!
