I'm dying laughing!

Yes, Tom should have won for his guest appearance on Friends. He was robbed. Instead, Bruce Willis won and his appearance was nothing to write home about IMO.

I just think anytime Tom gets recognition like this means we get to see more of him. We all know how important that is.

That's it golf! YOU ARE BANNED!! Off with thee, pronto!!!

Just kidding, of course! ;)

Glad to see TS nominated. I'm so out of touch with modern television (sans a few select shows), I havn't seen ANY of the nominees, including Sea Change!

Kind of getting back to the topic of TS other movie roles....
One of my favs is Washington Affair with Carol Lynley. It's kind of fun to watch it, lots of nice little period touches, like the reel to reel movie projector! :) Of course this was pre Magnum with a very young, svelte, handsome TS, who still makes my heart beat fast!! :) I'd have to see if the date is on the case but I am guessing mid 70's on this one. I seem to remember seeing it for the first time on cable around 1984 or so.
Also, commenting on the great post of TS with his Dad and siblings (where was Mom?); Wow, his brothers ARE big ones! And a very pretty sis too.

PS I loved the reference to the blue Ferrari, he had no clue at that time how significant a certain red ferrari was to become! :)

eeyore must have been getting the same error message I was getting (witness his double-posts) -- and James, yes, at least for me, it is fixed now and not doing that any more.

In the meantime, I found this blog review of QDU. Read the last paragraph at the end of the page, the last comment below the blog.

QDU Mention on a blog

I think we need to start an inventory of what TS owns now from QDU (we know he has at least one horse, Spider).

The name of the horse that TS rode in QDU is "Spike". It was given to him by the animal wranglers at the end of the shoot. Spike is now 24 years old.

Here's an excerpt from Western Horseman Magazine, July 2005 Issue, article titled "The Real Thing", by A.J. Mangum

....unlike many actors who've portrayed cowboys, Selleck is a true horseman, one with an outlook on life to which our readers can easily relate. He has an appreciation for good horses, well-made gear and the culture of the West, and talks horsemanship and cowboying just as readily as he talks film and television.
On his California ranch, Selleck keeps a string of saddle horses, including the horse he rode in the Aussie-themed western QDU. And, he's a hardcore tack aficionado; when he signs on to work in a western, his compensation includes ownership rights to the custom-made, historically accurate reproductions of period tack used by his characters. Needless to say, Selleck has a tack room unlike any other on the planet.

Just thought I'd share! :D

SL,

Thanks! I would've sworn I read "Spider." Who'd name a horse "Spike"? But who'd name a horse "Spider" either? :? :D

Thanks for that quote. I'd LOVE to see his tack room, though when I owned a horse, I rode English and jumped, as his daughter does. So maybe he'd tolerate me in his tack room.

Hey golf!

Awesome pics of you and your horse! I'm very impressed! :D

Here's another excerpt from Western Horseman Magazine, July 2005 Issue:

As Selleck saddles Spike up for a short ride, he points out the new saddle he's using, a handcrafted masterpiece made by Jerry Croft of Deadwood, South Dakota.
"Jerry's the guy I called when I wanted saddles for Matthew Quigley," Selleck explains. "I knew that if I played this lone cowboy, I wanted to see that silhouette of a period western saddle. I thought, 'that says something for the fish out of water.' So I talked to Jerry, and we came up with the right saddle with the right rigging, and that was the beginning of what's been a really wonderful relationship."
Croft has since made saddles for "Last Stand at Saber River", "Crossfire Trail", and "Monte Walsh".
A rare shy smile creeps across the actor's face, then he confesses another detail. The saddle he's using on Spike today is one of Croft's newer models, dubbed the "Tom Selleck".

Tom Selleck nominated for Emmy!

#117 Post by N1095A »

Up for an Emmy again is Tom Selleck, who will have just returned from filming his fifth Jesse Stone CBS mystery movie in Nova Scotia. He's nominated for the fourth one (Jesse Stone: Sea Change) as outstanding lead actor in a miniseries or a movie. Selleck won for his series Magnum, P.I. in 1984, the same year he was the Emmys' host, so he's never made the ceremonial trip from an audience seat to the stage.

"For some strange reason, I want to go," says Selleck, who joins NBC's Las Vegas in its new season, "even though I'll probably end up being the guy in the camera close-up going, 'I'm so happy that (someone else) won!' You get nominated by your peers, but the winner is selected by a panel that I'm sure is eminently qualified. I know it sounds kind of corny, but the nomination really is a huge honor."
"But Higgins, I can explain."

Hey Golf, I just found these pictures. My wife will be so jealous!! She loves horses, and grew up around them. We're share boarding two morgans now. We're hoping to buy soon. She can't get enough.
