Kona Winds

Hi Gang,

I watched Kona Winds yesterday and I am still disturbed by TM's actions
in it.

I get the woman is playing him and throwing herself at him, but sleeping with a married woman is so not TM.

There is a scene half way into the episode where she insists they go back to her house and as TM is getting into the car he berates himself for agreeing to do so.

I will say after he sleeps with her he doesnt look all that comfortable in bed with her.

What are your thoughts??

I'm watching the episode now. I think that the uncharateristic behavior is being emphasized to get across the point that the Kona Winds are dangerous in ways that extend beyond downed limbs and power lines. Without this liaison with a married woman, the effect of the winds would not play as big a role in this episode...the winds would be like any other storm, and the storm theme had been used before.

The shirt from Memories Are Forever makes an appearance here, too. It does not seem to be the one from the storage unit.

My take on the episode, and it is one of my favorites, is that "The Kona Winds" has an effect on his behavior causing TM to do things he normally wouldn't. And I love the great plot twist at the end, magnificent..........

It wasn't your usual Magnum episode but was entertaining none the less.
Kona winds are reputed to cause people to do things that would be uncharacteristic with the normal tradewinds.

One thing that I always admired about Magnum, the character, was that he wouldn't do what he does in this episode. I'll blame it on the Kona Winds and I think that is what the writer intended to get across.

LOL.........Should work for a man, a woman....Never!
I'll tell you one thing, if someone looking like Tom Selleck was doing a "security inspection" at my house, I would make darn sure my wife was at work and I was home........

Wasn't there a "Northern Exposure" episode similar to this? Not the Kona winds of course, but some other type of winds that caused unusual behavior. I think Joel and Maggie slept together during that episode. Does anybody else remember this?

I remember what you're talking about but I can't remember the term they used, but it has to do with the 24 hours a day of night-time getting to everyone -- daylight starvation, but there was a term for it. I'll see if I can find it and add it.

golf
