Hi Gang,
I just wantch Complusion (5.13) and I have a question on perception of a scene I am hoping you can help me with...
When TM staying at Carols house for the night as she is scared. She Walks back into the kitchen and TM walks in as well...
They talk about a few things and then the dialogue goes something like this...
Carol: You remind me of my father
TM: I do?
Carol: yes, shinning armour syndrome
TM: night blindness. Ya know there is only 1 cure. Sleep
Carol: you sure?
TM: yes (nodding)
Carol: yeah, ok
Am I reading this wrong or is there HUGE subtext going on here???
Come on all you Carol and TM fans, please chime in....

Season Five Question
Don't look at the dogs, work the lock
It has always seemed to me that there has always been a "tension" in the Magnum/Carol relationship. Carol is "interested" in TM -man to woman- while TM is only interested in her as a friend. I had this sort of relationship once upon a time, but I digress. It sort of echoes the Agatha/Higgins thing, but in this case TM is aware of it, while Higgins is either unaware or chooses to ignore it completely.
In this case I think the answer to the question you pose is yes.
However, if you are asking if there is an off screen encounter implied by this exchange in this particular episode, I think the answer is no.
My opinion obviously. I don't recall anything overt during the series.

I always did see TM as almost a Knight Errant, so I'm not surprised he doesn't take advantage (maybe that's not the correct term) of Carol in that spot. Not that TM didn't get his share, it's just that he didn't mis-represent his intentions or feelings for a little nooky.
Did anyone else however, find Carol's comparing Tom to her dad a little odd as a way to show him she's interested in a little lovin'? Comparison's to Dad usually aren't a way to get the fire's burning, if ya know what I mean.

Maybe the writers threw that in because women are said to marry (or be attacted to) men like their fathers. It was a way to let the viewer know, for sure, that Carol had a thing for Magnum.
Assuming that Carol was interested in TM, bringing up her dad was, as Conch said, the wrong thing to say.

Higgins: You've washed the car?! How extraordinary. Why would you do such a thing?
